Today, we would like to welcome Mrs. Erica Kellum to TCS! Mrs. Kellum teaches 6th Grade English. At Hewitt-Trussville Middle School, our educators understand that middle school is about so much more than academics; it’s about helping students grow into the people they are meant to become.

As she shares:
“I love that at HTMS, we’re focused not only on helping our students become successful students, but also on helping them become good humans.”

She recognizes the incredible transition students experience during the middle school years and the privilege educators have to model and foster the qualities that will carry them into adulthood—kindness, integrity, perseverance, dependability, organization, and independence.

“Academics matter, but so does the person they become along the way.”

There’s something special about being part of Trussville City Schools!

Today, we’re excited to welcome Mrs. Leigh Fleming to our TCS family!

As a new member of the Cahaba Elementary team, Mrs. Fleming shared what already makes her feel at home:

“Cahaba is truly a neighborhood school, serving the community in a small, cozy setting. Administration, teachers, and staff want the best for the families that attend here. It is definitely a special place to be.”

We’re grateful to have educators who recognize and embrace the strong sense of community that makes Trussville City Schools so special.

What a memorable evening at the 2026 Husky Hall of Fame Induction Dinner & Celebration! We were honored to recognize individuals whose achievements, leadership, dedication, and commitment made a lasting impact on our community.

The evening was filled with Husky pride, cherished memories, and well-deserved recognition as we celebrated the accomplishments and contributions of our newest Hall of Fame inductees.

A special thank you to the HTHS Culinary Program for providing a wonderful meal and showcasing the talent, creativity, and hard work of our students.

Welcome to Trussville City Schools!

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Dwight Caddell, our new Assistant Band Director at Hewitt-Trussville High School! We’re excited to have him join our school community and share his passion for music, students, and creating a place where everyone belongs.

When asked what he loves about students and Hewitt-Trussville High School, Mr. Caddell shared:

“I love the diversity that exists within a band program—not just in the traditional sense of the word, but in the many different personalities, backgrounds, interests, and experiences that students bring with them.”

For him, band should be a place where every student feels welcome and valued, regardless of who they are or what interests they may have outside of the band room. It’s a place where every student can find a sense of belonging.

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Caddell to the district and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students and the Hewitt-Trussville band program!

Welcome to Trussville City Schools!

We are excited to welcome home Mrs. Lauren Nelson. Lauren is a 2005 graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School. Her passion for learning, children, and making a difference in the lives of students began at an early age.

Reflecting on what inspired her to become a teacher, she shared:

“I have always had a love for learning and working with children for as long as I can remember. I can remember being a little girl and playing school with my friends and that passion for teaching always stayed with me.”

She credits the wonderful teachers who encouraged and believed in her throughout her journey and hopes to do the same for her students—helping them discover a love of learning, celebrating those “lightbulb” moments, and reminding them to “Reach for the stars.”

We are so glad you’re here and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make in the lives of our students at Magnolia Elementary!
