Thanks to the Trumbull Conservation Commission's Vine Team for all their hard work at TNAC! Pulled out a lot of bittersweet, autumn olive, knock out rose so our native plants and animals can thrive. If you're interested in helping next time, please let us know!

Enjoy a beautiful day!

🍂 Happy First Day of Fall! 🍁

The autumnal equinox arrives today, September 22, at 8:05 p.m. EDT, officially beginning astronomical fall in the Northern Hemisphere.

At that precise moment, the Sun crosses the celestial equator heading south. The word “equinox” comes from Latin words meaning “equal night,” although daylight and darkness are not exactly equal today because of atmospheric refraction and the way sunrise and sunset are measured.

From here, the days will continue growing shorter and the nights longer until the winter solstice in December.

What are you looking forward to most this fall?

🚨New Baby Alert!🚨 Remember that mama snapping turtle that laid her eggs at TNAC this past June? We're proud to announce that they've hatched! Here's one of her hatchlings on the way to the pond. Thank you to Trumbull Park Ranger Susie McNicol for the photo! 🐢

We're excited for the Vine Team to do their good work at TNAC on Sept 19. Please come join in the fun! Learn to identify invasive plants and how to most effectively remove them. If you have tools and gloves, please bring them (but no power tools.) If not, we have extras for you.
RSVP to [email protected].

Join us on September 19th from 9 - 11 am at the Trumbull Nature and Arts Center 7115 Main Street for another Invasive Species Removal Day!

Bring your own tools (loppers, trowels, garden knives - no power tools, please), water, gloves, sun protection, and a snack. We'll be removing invasive plants and helping the local ecosystem thrive!

Contact us at [email protected] with questions. Help the environment and earn volunteer hours!
