73 YEARS! 2026 Reunion of the Class of 1953

June 1953 - these 7 women graduated together from TCS. Instigated by a wish from Janet (VanNess) Elder, who lives in Georgia, that she could make even a brief visit to Trumansburg "one more time", and wished to meet with as many local and/or in NY State classmates as possible. Mary Jamison, keeper of the class' database, called or emailed those she could reach, and 7 of us said we'd be there - we're all either 90 or 91 years old. Janet's daughter, Kim and husband said they would bring her up, and she was here for only a few days, and so the date of May 28th, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Falls Restaurant for lunch was set. We stayed until closing (2 p.m.) and had a great time catching up, but it was almost like yesterday for some. Some of us, thankfully, had local family who drove us to this grand meeting. Our class of '53 had reunions every year for many years, until we could do it no more, and those reunions were due in large part to Sally (Smith) Wright's calling the class together every year. We had great turnouts and were quite close for a long time. Many of us are gone now, but spouses are included as much as possible to news and gatherings. Mary sends out news as she receives it on email, and it helps to keep "the tie that binds", and in touch. We're so grateful to have had those 3 hours together. Someone suggested that we think about 2028 for another get together for those who are able to make it - it would be our 75th anniversary year. We'll see, but fingers crossed!!!

We support "Rallying for Lucas Vann's Recovery".

https://www.gofundme.com/f/rallying-for-lucas-vanns-recovery

Lucas Vann, a 16-year-old Trumansburg High School student and multi-sport athlete, was seriously injured in a weight training accident. He was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is the son of Justin Vann '99 and grandson of Mark Vann '70.

Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and Lucas is now beginning his recovery. While this is encouraging news, his road to recovery will be long, and the Vann family is facing significant unexpected expenses, including travel, lodging, meals, and other costs associated with Lucas’s care.

Anyone who knows Lucas knows he is much more than an athlete. He is a dedicated teammate who consistently puts others before himself. Whether on the field, in the weight room, or around school, Lucas is known for his huge heart, positive attitude, and willingness to help those around him. Now, it’s our turn as a community to rally around him.

Many members of our community have asked how they can help. One of the most meaningful ways to support Lucas and his family during this difficult time is through a financial contribution. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the burden on the Vann family so they can focus on what matters most...Lucas’s healing.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Lucas and the entire Vann family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. Together, we can help Lucas and his family through this challenging time.

**This fundraiser is being organized by Doolittle Building & Design on behalf of Lucas Vann and his family. Chad is a member of the Trumansburg community and one of Lucas's coaches and is helping rally support for the Vann family during Lucas's recovery.

All funds raised will be transferred directly to Lucas's parents who will be the designated beneficiary of the fundraiser. The family will use the funds to help with the unexpected expenses associated with Lucas's injury and recovery, including travel to and from his medical care, lodging, meals, transportation, and other related expenses. These donations will help ease the financial burden on the family so they can focus on Lucas and his long road to recovery.

Thank you!

(At the time of this post, the fund is at 95% of its goal, $20,810 of $22,000. Thank you, Alumni, for helping with this final push!)

Jessica Schoffel, a member of the class of 1999, passed away suddenly on July 17, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to GoFundMe (see link in comments below), honoring Jessica Schoffel with a Buddy Bench. The bench(s) will become part of the Trumansburg Playground, a special place to Jessica, Linda and Rob who all worked on the original playground build in 1987. May she rest in peace.
