Hammerstone has TWO locations:

📍3285 Jacksonville Rd, Trumansburg, NY In 2013, Hammerstone School (then Double Dog Timberworks) started teaching carpentry courses for women. Our classes the first summer were organized around the construction of a Tiny House. As our program grows, we are adding more specialized courses in stick framing, trim carpentry, furniture making,

and timber framing. While our main mission is to teach carpentry skills to women, we do offer some co-ed classes with a focus on farming and homesteading carpentry skills. Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, we are attracting students from a wider geographical area to visit our beautiful region, and learn new skills at the same time.

Stop thinking about the project and actually MAKE IT HAPPEN! Need a kitchen remodel? Want heirloom furniture to pass down to your kids? Just ask our alumni who started from 0 and are now building houses, major renovations, custom furniture, and more!

NEXT THURSDAY is our first session of a *VIRTUAL* EVENING class on Google SketchUp - join us! Learn to use this powerful computer program to create plans for projects big and small.

You need new kitchen cabinets! → Make a detailed plan so you can build it yourself or communicate clearly with your contractors!

You need a building permit! → Create the plan for your permit application, whether you need a garage, addition, or even a new house! (Students have done it!)

Extend your weekend for this Wednesday-Friday class and learn the pro techniques for interior trim that elevate your home to high-end! It's very expensive to hire someone to install quality trim, but it's absolutely possible to DIY -- let our experts show you how to do it *right* in a welcoming, fun learning environment that attracts students from across the country.

Carpentry is often thought of as the rough skills required to frame a structure. But many carpenters get the chance to refine their skills and do work of tremendous detail when they trim houses. Trim is all the woodwork that covers the intersections of rough framing and wall coverings. Window jambs, casings, baseboard and moldings are installed by trim carpenters. In this class, students will develop finer measuring, cutting and joinery techniques, and will be exposed to more precision tools while working on the interior trim of the tiny house framed by our Rough Framing: Build a Tiny House course.

Students will work together to install interior trim on a tiny house. By the end of the week, window and door casings will be installed, including an interior door jamb. This class provides direct experience in finish carpentry using the miter saw, nail gun, drill and driver, pocket hole jig, and more!

Our evening VIRTUAL Intro to CAD class is open to complete beginners and starts on SEPTEMBER 10, so sign up today! ✅ hammerstoneschool.org/virtual Max made a greenhouse in SketchUp complete with rainwater collection, a flexible gutter spout, and wooden trim. They work in ecological landscape design and found the basic plan for the greenhouse online. No matter how visual your brain, it's challenging to keep a full plan in your head. Use SketchUp to design your greenhouse, shed, storage built-ins, or home addition. Print off professional plans, whether you need to give documents to the code officer or just have a visual reference to build from.
