Tahoe Mountain School Professional education for backcountry enthusiasts. AIARE is the country's foremost authority on avalanche education.

Tahoe Mountain School offers comprehensive avalanche courses based on the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) program. We employ the best of the best to instruct our classes. Among our team are American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) certified ski guides, avalanche forecasters and practitioners, and all are certified AIARE Level 1 and Level 2 avalanche instructors. T

ahoe Mountain School spends 2 full days of each course in the field, focusing on hands-on learning, coaching, and supervised decision-making. We provide current, detailed avalanche training to all recreationalists and professionals who play or work in the winter mountain environment.

It has been devastating to hear the news about the recent avalanche that occurred near Frog Lake on Donner Summit. Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this tragic event. The huge loss to our mountain community is staggering.
