🎓 Supporting more students on their path to graduation!

SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. visited Hudson Valley Community College this week to celebrate the continued expansion of SUNY’s ASAP|ACE programs and the students who are benefiting from them across the Capital Region.
At HVCC, ASAP has expanded to 450 students this fall, providing comprehensive advising, academic support, career development and assistance with everyday costs like textbooks, groceries and transportation — all designed to help students build academic momentum and graduate on time.
“ASAP is not only instrumental in helping students build and maintain academic momentum during their time with us—it also opens the door to greater transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities within the SUNY system through the ACE program,” said HVCC President Michael Brophy.
HVCC was proud to welcome Chancellor King to campus and celebrate the impact of these programs — and the students at the heart of them. 💚

⏰️ There is still time to apply for Spring 2027 scholarships through the HVCC Foundation!

Whether you are a new or returning student, completing just one general application automatically matches you with over 100 available awards, ranging from $250 and up, based on financial need and merit.

Applicants must submit a 250-word essay sharing their story by Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 to qualify. Scholarship finalists will be notified in late November. Funding will be applied to students' Spring 2027 semester bill.

Hudson Valley Community College is proud to welcome George Raneri back as the chairperson of the Applied Technologies Department.

As a dedicated campus alumnus and a veteran educator with three decades of teaching experience in the Automotive Department, George brings unmatched institutional knowledge and industry insight to this leadership role. He previously led the department from 2019 to 2022 and now returns to oversee twelve comprehensive degree and certificate programs spanning automotive management, clean energy, mechatronics and electrical trades.

This appointment comes at a pivotal time for HVCC as we prepare for the 2027 opening of the Applied Technology Education Center. This state-of-the-art facility will unite applied technology and skilled trades programs under one roof, expanding hands-on learning opportunities and preparing students for successful careers in high-demand fields.

Cultural affairs performances are taking center stage on campus all semester long, bringing world-class artists, musicians and actors directly to our community.

Hudson Valley Community College kicked off the season with some incredible highlights. Classical guitarist Matthew Ardizzone took the stage on our Troy campus recently, treating audiences to an hour of live acoustic music. Following that, Will Kempe's Players stepped into the spotlight at the Maureen Stapleton Theatre with a production of Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure," bringing classic drama and clever staging to life.

🎥 "The Films of Jennifer and Kevin McCoy" opens Thursday, Sept. 24, at Hudson Valley Community College’s Teaching Gallery!

Presented together for the first time, the three works in the exhibition — “Broker,” “Cleaner” and “Quitter” — complete a thematic arc that began in 2016 with “Broker.”

"Quitter," an experimental video explores the challenges of breaking with the patterns of modern life and asks — What does life look like without lifestyle?
