This week, Capital District EOC Building Trades and Welding students have been hard at work supporting maintenance and beautification projects at Thacher State Park.
From constructing new picnic tables and information kiosks to performing welding on utility vehicles, our students are putting their skills into action in a meaningful, real-world setting.
By rolling up their sleeves, they are not only reinforcing their training but also contributing to one of the Capital District’s most treasured state parks.

Did you know?
Before many workers ever step onto a job site, they complete the OSHA 10 training to learn how to spot hazards and to learn about workplace personal protective equipment (PPE) to help prevent injuries.
For students entering building and welding programs, this training builds confidence, keeps you safer, and gives you a real advantage with employers.
Safety skills = job-ready skills.
Your future in the trades starts with knowing how to protect it.

As 2026 marks our 60th anniversary, and in honor of six decades of quality academic and workforce career training, we’ve dedicated each Thursday as , where we share photos from our archives.
This particular photo is of our previous home (1984-2014) on the corner of 6th Ave. and Congress in Troy, which was, before 1984, the former facility for Bumstead Chevrolet.
The times may have changed since then, but the spirit and mission remain the same.

Career connections in action!
The Capital District EOC has partnered with ETS, Inc. to host the first round of onsite student interviews.
ETS is supporting this initiative by conducting initial candidate screenings and providing targeted job matching. They are sharing opportunities aligned with students’ skills and backgrounds, with a primary focus on Building Trades, Welding, and Electrical Tech programs.
We look forward to continuing to build and strengthen this important partnership.
