Days before graduation, TROY engineering graduates presented their capstone research projects for local industry professionals and other TROY faculty.
Hunter Holmes developed his research project, the “Godet Test Stand,” while working at Shaw Industries. The objective of his research is to decrease downtime and waste and increase production by developing a method to quickly test failure-prone godets.
Miles Beaty and Collin Paramore’s research, titled “Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting in Footwear for Portable Power Generation,” aims to utilize human motion to generate battery power.

From April 23-25, Troy University’s Department of Computer Science welcomed researchers, educators and students from across the country for the 2026 ACM Southeast Conference. One of the longest-running regional conferences affiliated with the Association for Computing Machinery Southeast Conference, ACMSE brought together more than 50 attendees to discuss emerging research and innovations in computer science and technology.
Representatives from universities across the nation attended the conference, including Auburn University, Clemson University, University of Connecticut, Kennesaw State University, Missouri State University and more.

Last week, Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Dr. Kerry Palmer, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering Dr. Govind Menon, Department of Chemistry and Physics Chair Dr. Zhiyong Wang, CMMS Director Dr. Raj Vinnakota and engineering Assistant Professor Dr. Shaimum Shahriar addressed the graduates in a special luncheon to celebrate the first graduating class of TROY engineers.

More than 350 local fourth graders attended the 22nd Pike County Groundwater Festival at Troy University last Wednesday. In partnership with the Pike County Soil & Water Conservation District, students compete in an artwork completion, learn about the water cycle, recycling and get up close and personal with wildlife.
