🐾 HELP US CELEBRATE OUR TEACHERS OF THE WEEK!🐾

We are so excited to introduce two incredible educators who are making a difference at Hillcrest Elementary!

Our Teachers of the Week are Mrs. Amanda Bailey and Mrs. Amanda Spicer. These ladies are shining examples of the heart, dedication, and passion that make our school family so special. They pour into our students each day, encourage them to believe in themselves, and create meaningful moments that help our children learn and grow.

We are incredibly grateful for the love, patience, creativity, and commitment they bring to Hillcrest each and every day. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and we are so blessed to have them as part of our Cougar family!

We would also like to give a HUGE shout out to Rebel Grounds Coffee who is sponsoring our teachers of the week with their favorite sweet drinks. Thank you for your continued support.

Fun, friends, and learning in Kindergarten!

Miss Ali’s Kindergarten class has had an AMAZING first three weeks of school!

MEET THE HILLCREST FRONT OFFICE TEAM!🐾

We’re so excited to introduce the friendly faces who will be welcoming our students and families through the doors of Hillcrest Elementary this year! We are truly looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, laughter, and lots of Cougar pride. 🥰

On the left is Dr. Brittany Simmons, Hillcrest Principal, and on the right is Mrs. Candace Thweatt, Assistant Principal. Together, these two ladies bring more than 10 years of experience in school administration. They are excited to serve our students, families, and staff and make this school year a special one!

And front and center is the most important person in the school—Mrs. Candi Caldwell, our amazing secretary!*❤️ She keeps the front office running, manages the chaos like a champ, and is always ready with a smile and a helping hand. We are so grateful for all the love, care, and dedication she brings to Hillcrest each day!

We’re only 2.5 weeks in, and Mrs. Kelsey’s 5th graders are already (quite literally) crazy for science! They started out the year with such a fun unit on Life Cycles and Traits. After spending the first week and a half learning about life cycles with caterpillars that will turn into butterflies, tadpoles that will turn into frogs, and carefully tending to their chicken eggs in the incubator, yesterday, they started a lesson on inherited traits. Since there were four variations of eggs in the incubator, Mrs. Kelsey thought that the most tangible way to teach inherited traits and how to make predictions would be to bring the potential parents of the baby chicks growing in the incubator to the students, so that they could learn about the traits the parents would pass to their offspring. Now they wait for their chicks to hatch and grow to see how close predictions were! Videos of candling the eggs will be in the comments. The students have been fascinated by that!

🌟 Celebrating Our First "I Spy 25" Winners of the School Year! 🌟

At Hillcrest Elementary, we love recognizing students who go above and beyond to show kindness, responsibility, and good character. These are all part of the 25 Essential Expectations that we have established to foster a safe and successful learning environment.

🎉 Congratulations to Xavior Burton, 5th Grade, for being a great friend and demonstrating what it means to care for others.

🎉 Congratulations to Kylan Hudson, 4th Grade, for helping a friend who had fallen during recess. His quick action and compassion made a difference!

On Relaxed Dress Mondays, students can wear hats, sweatpants, athletic shorts, and leggings. Some items that are not included are pajamas and house shoes.
