Dear Wynantskill Community,

As we continue planning for Wynantskill’s transition into the Troy City School District, we want to make sure the voices of Wynantskill families, staff, and community members are an important part of the conversation.

The annexation brings with it a significant increase in state aid funding, creating new opportunities to support our students, schools, and community. As we begin planning for the future, we want to hear directly from you about the priorities and possibilities that matter most.

We have developed a brief survey to gather your feedback on potential uses of this additional funding. We also want to hear your “big ideas!” If there are programs, opportunities, improvements, or investments you believe should be considered, please share them with us.

Every voice matters, and your feedback will help inform our planning as we build the future of Gardner-Dickinson and Troy together.

Happy Wynantskill Legacy Wednesday!

Did you know? Wynantskill was a settlement at least by the late 18th Century. The Wynantskill Reformed Church existed in the 1790s

The earliest “schooling” was in private homes. Some time just after 1849, a school was built on Church Street!

In honor of Dolly Parton, GD staff wore pink on 9/25 (read '9 to 5').

Dolly was not only a talented musician and actor, she was at her core a philanthropist.

Some of her charitable initiatives include her Imagination Library, bringing books monthly to children from birth to 5 years old. The Dollywood Foundation, which supports education, provides scholarships, and works with programs to help students from dropping out of school. Additionally, her employee tuition program covers 100 percent of tuition, fees, and books to any employee wanting to further their education.

Introducing Wynantskill Legacy Wednesdays!

As we celebrate this very special year in Wynantskill, we want to take time to honor the incredible legacy of the Wynantskill Union Free School District and the generations of people who have made it such a special place.

For more than 175 years, our schools have been filled with students learning and growing, educators dedicating their lives to children, families building traditions, and a community coming together to support one another.

So, each Wednesday throughout this school year, we will share a piece of our story through Wynantskill Legacy Wednesdays.

Some weeks we’ll look back at old photographs and special moments. Other weeks we’ll celebrate the people, traditions, milestones, and memories that have shaped our district through the years.

As we look forward to the next chapter for Gardner-Dickinson, we also want to make sure we take the time to celebrate the chapters that brought us here.
We hope you’ll follow along, share your memories, recognize some familiar faces, and help us celebrate this incredible community and its history.

Every great story has chapters. This year, we celebrate ours!

GD had an amazing first few days of school, and we can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow as we kick off our first full week of the school year!

GD Faculty and Staff were officially welcomed back today for the start of a new school year today, and the building was filled with laughter, hugs, and plenty of celebration!

To kick off the day, every staff member was individually recognized for their years of service and dedication to our district, students, and community. We also welcomed and introduced many new faces, and we’re so excited to have them join the GD team!

We’d like to give special recognition to two longtime staff members for their incredible dedication to the Wynantskill UFSD - Belle Angrisano and Karen Keegan!

Belle has served our district in a variety of roles for more than 31 years, most notably through her outstanding work as District Treasurer. Her knowledge, dedication, and many years of service have made a lasting impact on our district.

Karen has been a steadfast part of the Wynantskill community for more than 46 years, serving generations of students as an incredibly reliable, caring, and safe bus driver.

Here’s to another great year at GD!

We were incredibly honored to host a Celebration of Life for Dom “M’er” Martino this past Sunday, bringing together the Martino family and the Wynantskill community to remember and celebrate a man who meant so much to so many.

M'er's impact and legacy will continue to live on in our community, and we’re proud to honor his memory with a special plaque that will be displayed in the GD Hall of Fame.

A huge thank you to the amazing Buildings & Grounds crew from Troy CSD for their incredible work at GD this summer! Their helping hands come as part of a shared services agreement between the Wynantskill and Troy school districts for the transitional 2026-27 school year.

The Troy grounds team gave the GD parking lot and surrounding pavement areas a much-needed facelift, and what a difference it has made!

We cannot thank the team enough for their initiative, hard work and attention to detail as they help us get the building and grounds ready to welcome everyone back in September.

The Wynantskill UFSD is excited to welcome Ms. Little as a special education teacher for the upcoming school year!

Ms. Little student-taught at GD last year and made valuable connections with students and staff. She's also a Wynantskill native who grew up right here in our community and has called Wynantskill home her entire life! When she’s not supporting kids in the classroom, you can find her teaching dance at Isabelle School of Dance, where her favorite styles to teach are hip hop and tap. She’s also a huge animal lover and has three cats and one dog!

Please help us give Ms. Little a warm welcome to the GD family!
