Boone & Lincoln Elementary Let Me Run

Happy everyone!

What a season! We had 12 boys complete our season this spring. We learned about so many things; healthy eating, supporting our teammates, encouraging others, perseverance, and so much more. We had serious discussions, and lots of laughter!! The boys all worked their hardest to complete their 5K with determination. We are SO proud of each of them. As our season comes to an end, we want to thank you for allowing your boys to hang out with us this season. We look forward to seeing some of them back in the Fall.

Our service project had a little bit of detour due to all the rain we had on Tuesday, but we pushed ahead and altered our plans. The boys split up with their coaches and started out by wiping down community surfaces (tables, door handles, stair rails) with in the building, and straightening up some Lost & Found items.

Once the rain had passed, we took our groups and split up around campus and went outside to pick up trash from our school and running route. A BIG thank you to Coach Pieper's mom for the glove donation!! We collected several bags of garbage.

We had such a great morning!

What a fantastic day for a goal race! Congrats to all of our LMR boys on crossing that finish line this morning. 🏅 A big thank you to The Little Bit Foundation and Laura Hettiger for putting together an awesome event for the boys.

It's been a busy couple of weeks at LMR practice. We've done a lot of running, and had lessons on personal values where we created a Coat of Arms about ourselves. We wrote Acrostic Poems using our names to show how we see ourselves. Team shirts were also sent home yesterday.

We've had a great start to our season. We have 13 boys joining us for the Spring, and we couldn't be more excited. Welcome back to our returning boys, and a great big WELCOME to our new boys.

The past few practices we have talked about the LMR values, done a timed mile run, and discussed teamwork.

Our Values : Listen - we should be actively listening when others are talking, we do not interrupt or hold side conversations
Hustle - we give our best at each practice, sometimes we have to be uncomfortable to improve
Respect - we are kind to our coaches and teammates
Support - we encourage others on the team and help them to complete their runs

Teamwork - working together to achieve a common goal - this may be finishing a run, completing a relay, working together on a service project, encouraging others.

Let Me Be Me, Let Me Reach Out, Let Me Run!

We've had a great start to our season!! So far we have covered topics like the correct way to stretch before and after running, learning about each other, team values, teamwork, goal setting, the Boy Code (stereotypes), and self esteem.

Today we made a 5-Finger drawing about our "inside" self. This is our true self that others may not always see. Each finger represents something about us. Ask your LMR boy to share their drawing with you.

5. Things that make us smile

Today was a great day for a run! It started out pretty chilly, but the boys did fabulous! I am so proud of each and everyone of them for doing their best and completing our 5K today. Thank you parents for allowing us your boys these last seven weeks. They are some pretty amazing kids!

The past few weeks we've been working on comfortable & uncomfortable emotions, stereotypes,and healthy habits. The boys created acrostics using their names. They did a great job. You can find them below along with some random pictures from our practices. Happy Running!!

We had a great week of practices!! Today we talked about teamwork (what it is, & what it isn’t.). The boys continue to amaze me with their enthusiasm and support of each other.
