Dermot McDonough '19 (#36) and Edward McDonough '21 (#59) and their University of Richmond Spiders Football team take on Davidson College in the FCS playoffs this Saturday. The game will be on ESPN+ at 2pm. Best of luck to these two former Cadets and brothers!
Congratulations to Will Bazinet '23 who earned his second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do this October after five years of training at Master Yang's Martial Arts Center. This is an extremely challenging test and Will persevered. Congratulations!

The Cadets of La Salle Institute invite you to join them for their annual Christmas Concert. The evening will include performances from the dedicated Middle School Band, the distinguished Symphonic Band and the award-winning Cadet Blues Jazz Ensemble. Join us for an enchanting evening of music, where you will enjoy traditional seasonal favorites, famous classics and new renditions with sophisticated performances by La Salle Cadets.

There are 2 days left for La Salle's Thanksgiving Food Drive. If you haven't yet donated, please consider making a gift by this Thursday! A dress down day is on the line for the winning grade or most teachers who participate and so far our teachers are in the lead with 33 donations. The freshman class is right on their heels with 28! The La Salle Student Senate, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, held a Blood Drive in the school's gym today. Several students, faculty and staff donated their blood and Student Senate members volunteered their time at the drive. Great job to our La Salle community for giving back under our own roof!
Several students volunteered at last night's Annual Election Eve Spaghetti Dinner held at the Italian Community Center in Troy. Cadets greeted guests, served meals and drinks, and helped bus tables. Our students also had the opportunity to meet Congressman Paul Tonko and NYS Senate candidate Andrea Smyth. Great job last night Cadets!
On Monday, La Salle Institute welcomed Mr. Terry Finley from the Travis Manion Foundation who spoke to our middle school students on the importance of character education. The motto of Travis Manion is “If not me then who...” Students learned about different character traits and how character is a part of who they are. Thank you, Mr. Finley, for spending time with our Cadets.
Congratulations to the LSI Swimming Team and their impressive showing at the Section 2 Division II Championships on Saturday. La Salle finished in 6th place overall! Highlights include Skylar Ricard finishing 2nd and Maddie McFarland finishing 5th in the 200-yard Freestyle, Abby Carroll finishing 4th in the 50-yard Freestyle, Hannah Carroll finishing 3rd in the 100-yard Freestyle, and a 4th place finish in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay featuring Hannah, Abby, Maddie and Skylar. Great job, Cadets!
La Salle's 9th annual Middle School Math Mystery Night took place November 3. Middle school students, accompanied by a parent, guardian, or older sibling/family member, raced against each other to complete math problems and ultimately solve "The Case of the Missing Administrator." Great job Cadets!

Señora Sleight's Spanish classes learned about the Days of the Dead or Dia de los mu***os, which is observed in Mexico on November 2nd. The students celebrated with mask decorations, food and music and some earned bonus points by memorizing a verse of the song "La Llorona."

Recently, Jason Forget '99 and his colleagues from Center for Internet Security, TJ Sayers and Valecia Stocchetti, met with students interested in careers in cybersecurity. The Annual Friends of LSI Ice Hockey Golf Tournament was held at Eagle Crest Golf Club on Saturday, October 22. Together our community raised over $2,000 in support for our Coaches and Cadets! Thanks to all who continue to pay it forward with their generosity and especially to Billy Jabour '98, Billy Dallas ’98, Teddy Kuziara ’98, Brian Mohan ’01, Tim Flanigan and Todd Crandall for their planning efforts in ensuring this event is a huge success every year.
Congrats to our Swim Team for a great showing at last week's Colonial Council Invitational. Some highlights include: Skylar Ricard finished 1st in the 200-yard Freestyle, Abby Carroll finished 2nd in the 100-yard Freestyle, Maddie McFarland finished 2nd in the 500-yard Freestyle, and Hannah Carroll, Sam Polsinello, Carle Ana Boenau, and Abby Carroll finished 5th in the 200-yard Medley Relay. The team's Diver, Sydney Cavallaro, competed a few days later at a Dual meet in Ravena and earned a Personal Best point total. Way to go Cadets!
On Saturday, October 15, La Salle Institute celebrated the induction of 12 new members to its Athletic Hall of Fame. Two are well-respected and long-time coaches and teachers of La Salle - Coach Tim Flanigan and Coach John Leonard.
Coach Flanigan began his career at LSI in 1993 as a PE Teacher and has coached many teams over the years including varsity hockey, varsity golf, varsity tennis, and modified baseball.
Coach Leonard began his chemistry and math teaching career at LSI 38 years ago and at the same time became the backbone of LSI’s track program, coaching cross country, indoor track and outdoor track ever since.
They’ve touched many lives and we are blessed to have Coach Flanigan and Coach Leonard at La Salle, so we ask our LSI community to join us one more time in congratulating them both on their Athletic Hall of Fame inductions!

Members of the La Salle Cadet Soccer teams, along with their families and many other La Salle students, raised funds and participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Albany this past weekend. We are proud of our Cadets for giving back to the community!

Seniors Patrick Murphy and Alex Rotondi have been named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are recognized for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. A spokesperson for NMSC said "Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success, these students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their school plays in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.
