And just like that… our first week is done!
What a great start to the school year at La Salle Institute!

From Orientation Day, where our older Cadets helped welcome and guide our younger students, to rock climbing, an introduction to Engineering, and getting back into the classroom, it’s been a busy and exciting week.

Reconnecting with teachers and friends, learning new schedules. We had a beautiful Mass, Back-to-School Night and of course, a Senior Sunrise.

It’s been a week filled with new beginnings, new friendships, school spirit, and lots of memories already being made.

It’s safe to say… La Salle is off to a great start!

Starting Their Final Year Together.

This past Sunday, our Senior Cadets gathered for Mass at St. Michael the Archangel across from La Salle.
After Mass, seniors enjoyed time around the table, sharing conversation, laughter, and, of course, plenty of pancakes!

As they begin this special year, we know it will be filled with milestones, cherished memories, and moments they will carry with them long after graduation. What better way to start their senior year than by coming together as a class, sharing faith, friendship, and a meal?

CADETS IN THE COMMUNITY
Honoring our heroes by giving back.

Our Boys Varsity Soccer Cadets Max Bender, Colin Butler, Jackson Manders, and Emerson Manders recently volunteered with Carry The Load at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

As part of this National Day of Service, our Cadets joined community members in cleaning and caring for military headstones, followed by a moving 9/11 remembrance ceremony honoring our nation’s veterans, first responders, and their families.

It’s more than just a day of service, it’s a meaningful way to “carry the load” and ensure the stories, service, and sacrifices of our heroes are never forgotten.

We are proud of our Cadets for living out the La Salle mission of Enter to Learn, Exit to Lead through service to others.

A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS AT LA SALLE!
This year marks a very special first at La Salle Institute as we proudly welcome our inaugural 5th Grade Class!

To our newest Cadets: Welcome to the La Salle family! Your journey begins here, and you have an incredible group of seniors to look up to, learn from, and be inspired by. We can’t wait to watch you learn, grow, and make your mark on our school community.
And speaking of our seniors… Congratulations, Class of 2027! Your final year as Cadets is here. Make it count, lead by example, and enjoy every moment of this very special year.
To all of our returning Cadets, welcome back! A fresh new year means new opportunities to learn, grow, challenge yourselves, make memories, and continue becoming the leaders you are meant to be.

And today, we’re shining a special spotlight on two students, Emric and Thea Kalbfliesh. This year, Emric is a senior and begins his final chapter as a Cadet, while his younger sister, Thea, begins hers as a member of La Salle’s very first 5th Grade Class.
From one end of the Cadet journey to the very beginning, Emric and Thea are a beautiful reminder that being a Cadet is more than just the years you spend at La Salle - it’s a family, a tradition, and a legacy that gets passed down.

September 11, 2001 — We Remember.

Today, the La Salle Institute community pauses to remember the lives forever changed by September 11, 2001.

We honor those who lost their lives, the brave first responders and heroes who ran toward danger, the families who continue to carry their loss, and the countless acts of courage and compassion that followed.

As a Lasallian community, we are reminded of our call to serve others, stand together, and lead with faith, compassion, and hope.

May we never forget.
May we always remember.
May we continue to choose service, unity, and love.

In honor of the 25th anniversary, La Salle Institute Cadet Delaney Galuski, organized an event called "Honoring our Heroes" where many of our students, faculty, and members of our community, came together to honor our local heroes and first responders.
It was a beautiful evening of remembrance, gratitude, and unity — a powerful reminder that while we can never forget, we can continue to honor those who gave so much through service to others.

God bless all those who were affected by September 11, 2001, and God bless our nation.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT | SEANN MULCAHY ’00

La Salle Institute proudly congratulates Seann Mulcahy Ph.D., Class of 2000, on being presented with the Outstanding Faculty Scholar Award by the President of Providence College!

Seann, a Professor and Chair of Chemistry and BioChemistry at Providence College, was recognized as a tenured faculty member who demonstrates the highest standards in research, scholarship, and contributions to his academic field. This prestigious honor is a wonderful recognition of his dedication to excellence, academic achievement, and commitment to advancing the field of chemistry.

This accomplishment is especially meaningful to our La Salle family, as Seann is part of a proud Cadet legacy. His father, Pat Mulcahy, 72' is also a La Salle alumnus and served our school community for many years as our longtime Athletic Director.

We are proud to celebrate Seann and the incredible example he continues to set through his pursuit of knowledge, scholarship, and excellence.

Welcome & Congratulations to Kevin Leyden, Interim Principal of La Salle Institute!

Rooted deeply in the Lasallian tradition, Kevin Leyden brings decades of leadership, education, and community experience to La Salle Institute.

A La Salle Academy NYC graduate and former Brother of the Christian Schools, Mr. Leyden began his career in education before serving in leadership roles across Lasallian ministries, New York State, IBM, and Albany Medical Center. His extensive experience includes developing innovative partnerships, leading community initiatives, and advancing opportunities for children, families, and organizations.

Mr. Leyden returned to La Salle Institute as a volunteer in 2023. His passion and dedication to the Cadet experience led to his appointment as Vice President for Campus Life in 2024, and this summer, LSI named him Interim Principal.

We are grateful for Mr. Leyden’s continued commitment to our students, families, faculty, and the entire La Salle community. His leadership, experience, and deep connection to the Lasallian mission will be an incredible asset as we move forward together.

Welcome back to the front lines, Mr. Leyden! We are proud to have you leading the way.

HONORING OUR HEROES | 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, La Salle Institute invites our community to come together for an evening of remembrance, gratitude, and unity as we honor the lives lost on 9/11 and recognize the heroes who continue to serve our communities each day.

📍 La Salle Institute Football Field

Organized by La Salle student Delaney Galuski, Honoring Our Heroes will recognize veterans and active military members, firefighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics, nurses, doctors, and first responders.

We especially invite these heroes to join us and line the perimeter of the football field as our community gathers in gratitude. Following a brief ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to walk the field and personally thank them for their service and dedication. Please encourage the heroes in your lives to attend.

Together, we will remember those we lost, honor those who serve, and help ensure the lessons of September 11 are carried forward to the next generation.
