Since July 1, 2025, through initiatives such as Giving Tuesday's 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 campaign, our annual 𝘊𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘵 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘢𝘺, and the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends of La Salle, more than $𝟑𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 has been raised in support of our Cadets and the mission of La Salle Institute.

Thank you, our Cadets enjoy spending time with your wonderful residents each week!

A special "Thank you!" and shoutout is in order for the students of LaSalle Institute of Troy. Starting in October 2025, middle school and high school students have come to VRM twice a week continuously to do a number of different activities with our residents. We look forward to this upcoming fall to resume the LaSalle Youth Group as the residents always enjoy the visits from LaSalle.

Students in Miss Kish’s English 10R classes wrapped up the school year with a meaningful “Pay It Forward” project, designing, implementing, and reflecting on community service initiatives of their own creation. One project included a basketball clinic for our middle school students, organized and led by three varsity basketball student-athletes from Miss Kish’s class. Through mentorship and service, these Cadets made a positive impact while putting Lasallian values into action.

Proceeds from the Cadet Open help fund La Salle's athletic programs and provide tuition assistance, ensuring more students can experience the tradition of excellence that defines our school.

Cadets in the Community: Congratulations to current 9th grader Nash Murley, on successfully completing this year's ACE Mentor Program! Nash recently delivered his final project presentation to representatives from some of the Capital Region's leading architecture, construction, and engineering firms, showcasing the skills, creativity, and professionalism he developed throughout the program.

The ACE Mentor Program is a nationally recognized, industry-sponsored mentoring program that introduces high school students to careers in architecture, construction, and engineering. Throughout the school year, students work alongside industry professionals, participate in site visits, explore real-world projects, and develop solutions to authentic design and construction challenges before presenting their work to industry leaders.

As a result of his outstanding effort and commitment, Nash was also selected for a paid summer externship, providing him with an incredible opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the industry while continuing to explore future career pathways. This achievement reflects both his hard work and the valuable mentorship provided through the ACE program.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former La Salle Institute faculty member William Hornick.

Mr. Hornick dedicated years of service to our school community, leaving a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and families. We join together in remembering his commitment to education and the many lives he touched throughout his time at La Salle.

We extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences to his family, friends, former students, and all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 8, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar.

Students of La Salle’s Leadership Concentration recently had the unique opportunity to visit the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, where they met with Justice Lisa Fisher and the presiding Justices.

Students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the courthouse, participated in an engaging Q&A focused on leadership and career readiness, and observed live appellate court proceedings in action.

Experiences like these provide our Cadets with invaluable insight into leadership, public service, and the many pathways available to them after graduation.

The New York Knicks are making history, riding a franchise-record 12-game postseason winning streak. Their remarkable run is tied for the second-longest single-postseason winning streak in NBA history, trailing only the Golden State Warriors' 15 consecutive playoff victories in 2017.

So, what's the La Salle connection? Our own Brian Wendth '05 serves as the Knicks' longtime Director of Team Operations and was recently featured in a New York Post photo alongside Jalen Brunson as the team continues its historic playoff run.

We're proud to see a La Salle alumnus playing a key role behind the scenes for one of the NBA's most exciting teams.
