Adaptive Use Musical Instrument
Adaptive Use Music Making and Improvisation AUMI trainings are available for Adaptive Use Musical instruments Training for Organizations.
AUMI Training for Schools, Clinics and Organizations
Currently hosted by Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute's Center for Cognition, Communication and Culture, the AUMI software interface and iOS App are new musical instruments that enable people who have very limited controlled (voluntary) movement to independently engage in music making. The AUMI training was developed by therapist Leaf Miller and

Here's something I'm working on in AUMI, it's pretty experimental, but in some cases, real fun!
AUMI Pose detecting has two modes: registering and running.
Registering looks for stable images (really fingerprints of stable images) that are different from ones it "knows" about already. The first registered pose is the "no pose" that is a way to purposefully not play a note.
Subsequent saved poses map 1-to-1 to sound boxes.
When running, the incoming video is fingerprinted and then compared to the pose collection. The winner moves the cursor to that sound box!
That means every other aspect of AUMI is available through these detected poses.
You can't save them, because the image fingerprints are too closely related to the original images it's working with, but If I change the fingerprint algorithm to be a little more loose, maybe that will make sense.

For a while I've been thinking of adding a "silence" button that works like the "send to listeners" feature.
Previously, the easiest way to quiet down listener devices was to send them a "silent" setup! That's a little radical and of course resets all their carefully setup setups.
So I added new buttons to
remotely turn off,
restore it the was it was (that is, if it was off already, it won't turn it on),
toggle and
turn on
This lets the room quiet down quickly for those who can get to the SILENCE button.
Apple also tossed a wrench in the works by now not allowing devices to identify themselves with the names you gave them.
For instance, my iPad "lacewing" identifies as "iPad". AUMI uses these ids to identify devices that are "listening".
So I added a way to rename your device for AUMI sharing purposes. You can give them any name you like, which is actually a pretty good thing.
so that'll be in the next release (2.2.3).
AUMI 2.2.2 is in the store! It turns out the devices on iOSes earlier than iOS17 would get a crash instead of AUMI! Now it should work - download it and try it out! There is one other (weird) feature, that you can now fiddle with the sound order of the sound files of even melodic instruments! That means you can make up "tunings" that are not normally in the "tunings" list if you are extrememly clever.
Hey Adaptive Users! There's a new AUMI , 2.2.1, available for you to download and update from the App store! It's actually a pretty extensive bunch of tweaks! Try it, and read all about it! http://aumiapp.com/AUMI-2.2.1.php
