✨ In this course, you’ll:
• Strengthen your Mandarin with practical listening, speaking, reading, and writing
• Learn using traditional Chinese characters
• Explore cultural topics through interactive activities like dialogues, role-plays, and guided discussions
• Enjoy occasional cultural activities to bring the language to life! In past terms, we’ve made mooncakes, brewed Taiwanese teas, and launched sky lanterns—each term is unique 🌕🍵✨

💡 This class adjusts to students’ levels. If enough true beginners join, we may offer a separate beginner group so everyone feels supported.

📚 This course is the first half of our Winter–Spring 12-week program, with a few sessions potentially held online for flexibility.

This month of May might be coming to an end, but we can't let it go by without sharing this piece by artist, Helena Wu. Here's what she had to say about this piece, "Fruit plays a huge part in showing love in Asian culture, and Taiwan is a tiny island that grows a huge variety of fruit. I hadn't visited the motherland in over a decade, and one thing that was very prominent to me was how much fruit I consumed daily, whether it was fresh, dried, glazed in crunchy sugar glass, mixed into a drink, or baked into a snack. I can always expect to see wax apples and pineapples at my grandparent's house. Hot, humid, night markets blend up refreshing watermelon milk for you on the spot. Wild fruit trees grow on every road corner and street. A lady sells home grown tomatoes out of her truck, next to a hiking trail deep in the mountains. At old markets, street vendors call you to try their samples, but of course you have to buy the discount deal of 3 bags instead of 1. There's a lot of pride in how much variety of seasonal fruits can be found in any given month, and I hope this gives people a taste of what Taiwan has to offer."

This season, we are excited to offer a comprehensive course for both beginner and intermediate levels, designed to deepen your proficiency in Mandarin and enrich your understanding of Taiwanese culture.
