Members of the Troy-Pike Center for Technology HOSA and JAG Organizations attended the Alabama Joint Leadership Development Conference (JLDC) in Birmingham today to develop their leadership skills, strengthen their teamwork, and connect with student leaders from across the state!

Through engaging activities, collaboration, and leadership development opportunities, our members gained valuable experiences and ideas that they can bring back to our chapter. We are proud of their commitment to growing as leaders!

We have reminded and talked with our students daily. All first nine weeks ACCESS classes close at 11:59 pm on Monday, Oct 5. Students can work on ACCESS assignments from home. Only Unit Exams and Term One Exam (midterm) must be taken at school. They are password protected and must be typed in by their ACCESS facilitator. TPCT students will go to Mrs. Brooks for unit exam passwords.

The Troy-Pike Center for Technology is excited to be part of the Pike County Fair! Stop by our booth to learn more about our Career and Technical Education programs and the opportunities available to students as they prepare for their future careers.

Our HOSA students will also have a booth and will be in attendance providing blood pressure checks! 🩺

Our Health Science students put their skills into practice during yesterday’s lab as they worked on wound care and bandaging techniques, including learning how to properly address bedsores.

Our Patient Care Technician students took their learning a step further by using clay to create models representing the different stages of bedsores. This hands-on activity helped students visualize and better understand what happens at each stage and how proper patient care plays an important role in wound management.

At TPCT, we believe learning by doing helps prepare students for success in their CTE field!

The TPCT JAG Career Association is participating in a statewide service initiative: a sock drive benefiting local Salvation Army shelters across Alabama's three JAG districts.

Inspired by Bombas founders Randy Goldberg and David Heath, who learned that socks are among the most requested items in homeless shelters, this initiative aims to provide a practical and meaningful resource to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout our state.

To help in this effort, please donate new socks. Collection boxes will be available for each classroom (at TPCT) and in the main office.

Our Health Science students had an exciting opportunity to attend Auburn University’s Nursing Spirit Day! Students were able to experience the nursing profession firsthand, learn more about opportunities in healthcare, and get a glimpse into what their future could look like in the nursing field.

Experiences like these help our students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world careers and inspire them to continue pursuing their goals in healthcare!

Charles Henderson High School seniors had an exciting opportunity to attend Troy University’s Business & Industry Day, where students explored career opportunities, toured campus, and gained valuable skills to help prepare them for life after high school.

Students participated in a “What Not to Wear” and Interview Etiquette session featuring K&W and Sanders Companies, led by HR representative, Mrs. Katie Davis. Students also learned the importance of professional meal etiquette with Dr. Preston Pritchett, “Dining for Success”.

These hands-on experiences provide students with practical knowledge they can carry into college, careers, and the workplace. We are grateful to Troy University for hosting this event for the third consecutive year and for continuing to create meaningful opportunities for our students.

The Troy-Pike Center for Technology appreciates our partnerships with Troy University and K&W and Sanders Companies, and we look forward to continuing to build these connections and expand opportunities for our students! 💙💚
