Anchored in Trinidad Foundation Training is the gateway to back, hip & joint stability. Pain relief, mobility, flexibilit www.foundationtraining.com

I am Anchored in Trinidad because it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth; I play in its waters, I'm moored in this community. I owe so much of my love of life to its magical, marine lure. I've taught Foundation Training movement classes in and around the lovely Trinidad Bay area on its beaches, parks, courts and centers for many years. In Foundation Training, we Anchor our lower body, then

Decompress our spine with expansive breaths. What a better place to do this than in the sand, inhaling the negative ions and misty minerals of turbulent sea air? Or in the fragrant coastal forests digging our feet into the spongy humus, on the shores of an oceanside lagoon, or maybe on top of a stand up paddle board? Trinidad-by-the-Sea is a Bureau of Land Management-designated Gateway Community to the California National Coastal Monument, a treasure to behold. Foundation Training is a Gateway to proper movement patterns, back and hip stability, and a life of empowered and balanced mobility... a gift to be experienced!

About Instructor Shannon: "How did I get here? I am a parent just like you. In fact, that is precisely how I ended up where I am today and how I became a State Parks Lifeguard. With a background of learning to swim at the age of two, I grew up constantly in the water. I swam on the high school swim team to further refine my swim techniques.

In my mid-twenties, I began to surf and never looked back. In my early forties, I found myself surrounded by a bunch of adolescents in the beautiful and dangerous North Coast Ocean. At school events near the ocean, I would hear the other adults saying things like “It’s a good thing Shannon is here...She is a surfer and will be able to save these kids because we sure can’t!” That is when I realized that of course I would do my best, but I really didn’t have a clue as to how to make a proper rescue.

I had a couple of friends who were State Lifeguards in this area and asked them if I could join their weekend workouts. So it began. I soon went through the rigorous ocean lifeguard training. I have now served as a Lifeguard with the California State Parks for five years. Within that time, I have become EMT certified, jet ski and boat operator certified, rope rescue trained, and DUCK certified with the United States Coast Guard. I am also a seasoned swim instructor.

Over the last 25 years, I have taught surfing lessons and worked in surf camps. I am a lead instructor of the North Coast Junior Lifeguard Program which teaches over 400 kids each summer water rescue skills, CPR, general first aid, and efficient water entries.

I am constantly approached by adults wondering if there is a class they could take to be rescue trained in and around the water. That is why we have developed this program."

New secret spot

05/17/2022

I did it! At the end, I accomplished one of the "funky" extra moves I've been wanting to try, plus the "plough" pose, á la Yoga Trapeze®. Great for upper body & grip strength.

Also some floor movements for hip and core strength, shoulder range, and standing poses for hip opening and balance.

I've found some good trees in Trinidad to hang and practice. I also want to revive the vitality tours plan this summer: paddleboarding with yoga on the way, then hang the trapeze at a beautiful spot. Swimming, frolicking, beach fun, let's go!

You don't have to do much to feel a difference in strength, flexibility, & balance with this practice.

Here's a continuation clip from last post..I practiced for about 15 min... just enough to feel the muscles and connective tissue shift.

Are you creaky? I'm very creaky these days. This certainly helps. It's good to move a little with intention every day..

I'm excited about what I accomplished today. I'll share it soon!🤸🏼‍♀️

The Yoga Trapeze® can be used as a great way to wake up or can also help you relax. Strength, flexibility, core work, mat sequences, and inversions can all be incorporated into the flow of a class.

Moving with support is another thing I love about it. There are lots of modifications to ease movement, despite limitations.

I have availability for 2 private (bring a plus one), 30-minute, free sessions. We can go outside or indoors.

Go to bio for info and contact buttons. Hope to hang with you soon!
