🏴‍☠️ 100 Stories for 100 Years – Story #52 🏴‍☠️

As we celebrate our Centennial, we're highlighting the stories of Pirates whose connections to Trenton Junior College and North Central Missouri College have made a lasting impact.

Meet Kristi Cutsinger (Class of 1998, Associate in Arts), whose connection to NCMC began with dual-credit classes while attending Trenton High School. Growing up just blocks from campus, Kristi chose NCMC to complete her transfer degree before continuing her education at Northwest Missouri State University.

Years later, Kristi's journey brought her back to NCMC as an employee in Nursing & Health Sciences. Today, she serves as Director of Health Science, working alongside an outstanding team and helping students pursue their own educational and career goals. For Kristi, it's a full-circle opportunity to give back to the college and community that gave her such a strong start.

The next generation of Occupational Therapy Assistants is getting started!

Our MHPC OTA Class of 2027 is already in its second week of classes and reached an exciting milestone this week—their first in-seat lab on Wednesday!

The hybrid OTA program combines online coursework with hands-on, face-to-face lab experiences, giving students opportunities to put what they’re learning into practice as they prepare for careers helping others live more independently.

We’re excited to follow their journey over the next two years. Good luck, Class of 2027!

Unfortunately, the food truck scheduled for today had to cancel due to an issue with their air conditioning. Instead, we’re turning the afternoon into Coffee Shop Friday!

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to stop by Cross Hall for a treat, coffee, and a chance to relax and connect as we wrap up the first week of classes.

📣 NCMC Begins Search for Next President, Appoints Dr. Jamie Hooyman as Interim President

North Central Missouri College has begun the search for its next president following the retirement of Dr. Lenny Klaver, effective August 31. The NCMC Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Jamie Hooyman as Interim President, effective September 1, to provide leadership and continuity during the national search.

Dr. Hooyman brings decades of higher education leadership experience—and a strong connection to NCMC. A North Central Missouri College alumna, she previously spent more than a decade serving NCMC in several leadership roles before joining Northwest Missouri State University, where she most recently served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost.

“I am thrilled to serve as Interim President because I believe so strongly in what NCMC does every day to help individuals achieve their dreams,” said Hooyman.

As NCMC begins its second century, the College remains focused on providing quality education, uncommon attention, and affordable, attainable pathways to student achievement while preparing for an exciting new chapter in its history.

🎓 Congratulations to the MHPC Occupational Therapy Assistant Class of 2026!

On August 19, we celebrated the graduates of the Missouri Health Professions Consortium OTA program and the hard work, dedication, and hands-on learning that brought them to this milestone. We wish each graduate the very best as they take the next step toward careers helping others live, work, and participate more independently in their daily lives!

NCMC is one of five colleges participating in the MHPC Occupational Therapy Assistant hybrid program. Students complete general education coursework through NCMC before moving into professional-level OTA coursework, labs, and clinical experiences.

NCMC students, join us for a night at Kauffman Stadium as the Kansas City Royals take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, September 4!

🎟️ Tickets are just $5 per student, and only 28 spots are available — first come, first served!

🚌 Free transportation is available! The bus will leave from NCMC’s Main Campus with an additional pickup in Cameron. Students who choose not to ride the bus will be responsible for their own transportation and parking at the stadium.
