The Bridge Academy

The Bridge Academy The Bridge Academy was founded in September 2003 to help students with learning disabilities bridge the gap between potential and performance.

We are a New Jersey state approved private school and are accredited by the Orton-Gillingham Academy. The Bridge Academy of New Jersey was established in 2003 to serve the needs of students whose learning disabilities make it impossible for them to be taught in a traditional school setting. Our program is unique because we assess each student’s needs, deficiencies and learning style -- and develop truly effective education plans for each child. We utilize the latest advances in educational research that have been proven effective in the classroom setting and combine them in a nurturing, emotionally supportive environment. Our program uses multi-sensory, sequential teaching techniques in a 1:3 teacher-to-student ratio to overcome language-based learning disabilities. These are the only means that research has shown to be effective in teaching students with these challenges. According to the International Dyslexia Association, up to 20 percent of the population suffers from some type of language-based learning disability. The Bridge Academy currently serves 65 students aged 8 to 18 from New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.

Students are learning basic color theory in art class.
Before coloring in their color wheels for the year, they are using colored water to mix secondaries and neutrals from the primary colors. This hands on approach helps to understand and remember color theory by observing first hand the physical change in color they go through.
