AI is transforming the future of education, and CTE leaders across New Jersey are preparing for what’s ahead. It's STRATEGY.

The NJCCVTS recently hosted an AI conference led by José Antonio Bowen, giving administrators the opportunity to explore strategic ways to use AI tools in their daily work while supporting students and staff in using these technologies effectively and responsibly.

It was a great morning of collaboration and forward-thinking as we continue to prepare learners for the future.

Sen. Vin Gopal is the 2026 recipient of the NJ Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools' CTE Leadership Award. Throughout his time in office, and especially as current chair of the Senate Education Committee, Sen. Gopal has taken the time to understand the value of career and technical education and serve as a well-informed and passionate advocate for our schools and our students.

In NJ, our county vocational-technical schools are a popular choice for parents and students alike. The schools have long demonstrated that career and technical education gives students more options, not fewer. While in high school, students explore career pathways, including the trades, enjoy a relevant and purposeful education, and graduate prepared for careers, college, or both depending on their passions and talents.

It's one reason county vocational-technical schools continue to be among the most sought-after public high schools in New Jersey.

Class of 2026 Spotlight: Aubrey White

After adjusting to learning with dyslexia, Aubrey White wanted to prove that anything is possible.
The recent Sussex County Technical School graduate earned an associate degree from Sussex County Community College before receiving her high school diploma. She turned her passion for STEM and inspiring others into action by creating "Girls Without Limits," a program that encourages younger students to explore STEM learning and careers. Aubrey is now off to Penn State University, where she will continue her own pursuit of a career in STEM as a materials engineering major.

NJ.com recently spotlighted Bob Newman, former superintendent of OCVTS in Toms River, who also taught at Rutgers University and what was then New Jersey City University. Newman spent four years building a one-of-a-kind aircraft for pilot and disability advocate Jessica Cox, demonstrating how innovation, skilled craftsmanship and determination can help make aviation more accessible.
