Our Go Green Camp continued learning beyond the classroom with a very special visit to the Mercer County Equestrian Center. 🐴🌱

A heartfelt thank you to Wanda Webster Stansbury for helping make this our third annual trip to the Equestrian Center. We are so grateful for partnerships that continue to open doors and create meaningful experiences for our Sprouts.

Our visit began with a presentation about horses, giving the campers a chance to learn before meeting them in person. From there, the students were introduced to the horses and shown how to properly care for and groom them.

They had an opportunity to feel and examine the saddle and quickly discovered that it was much heavier than it looked! Then came the moment they had been waiting for: learning how to safely mount the horse.

And off they rode!

For Go Green Camp, experiences like this are an important part of what we mean by environmental education. Caring for our environment also means learning how to respect animals, understand their needs, appreciate the land they depend on, and recognize our responsibility to care for the living world around us.

The smiles, the curiosity, and even a few nervous first moments made this another unforgettable summer experience.

Go Green is more than learning about nature, it is learning how to live respectfully within it. 🌱

What a way to close out our summer. 🌱

On Friday, our Sprouts visited the New Jersey State Museum for a “See, Say & Reflect” experience. The goal was simple: look closely, talk about what you see, ask questions, and reflect on what it means.
Even the walk there became part of the experience. As we made our way toward the museum and the New Jersey State House, the students were looking around, noticing the creative flower pots and other details along the streets of our own city.

When we arrived, the security guards told us about a new exhibition, The Power of Change: Revolutionary Stories. We viewed historic documents, learned about the Constitution and voting, and had meaningful conversations about the struggles Black Americans faced in gaining and protecting the right to vote.

The exhibition helped our students see that the rights we sometimes take for granted have a history, and that history includes people who had to fight to be included.

We also stepped back into 1976 through Spirit of ’76: The Bicentennial, celebrating America’s 200th birthday. The students even had an opportunity to make their own buttons featuring nostalgic sayings—a fun connection between history and popular culture.
Then it was off to natural history! We explored fossils and crustaceans, and the students were even able to touch the fossilized bones of a prehistoric turtle.

And the day kept giving.

As we were leaving, we ran into Mayor Reed, stopped to chat for a few minutes, and of course took a picture together.
On our walk back to campus, we made one more very special stop: Aunt Sarah Dash on Sarah Dash Way, the street she shares with Memorial Drive. There she is at the top of the street, and Sprout U is toward the other end.

Today reminded me of something I say often but felt especially deeply:
The City of Trenton has incredible resources, extraordinary history, and stories everywhere our children turn. Sometimes an entire lesson is waiting right outside our door.

And in the spirit of Go Green, today reminded us that caring for our community also means learning its history, protecting its resources, and recognizing the beauty and value already growing all around us.

Please come out and support the Harmony for Hope International Charity Concert** benefiting **Sprout U School of the Arts**.

This will be a beautiful afternoon of music, culture, community, and purpose featuring artists and performers connected across **3 countries and 12+ states**, our own **Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey**, and a welcome by **Mayor Reed Gusciora**.

Our Sprouts have been rehearsing and preparing with so much heart, and we would love to see the theatre filled with family, friends, community members, and supporters.

Welcome to Week 2 of camp! 🌱☀️

We started the week with campers jumping right into farm life:

🥕 Rutabagas spent time in garden care, helping tend to what’s growing on the farm.

🍠 Sweet Potatoes helped with snack, enjoying a hands-on farm food experience.

🥒 Zucchinis spent time in animal care, helping care for our farm animals and learning about kindness, responsibility, and daily farm routines.

We’re looking forward to another week of nature, cooking, archery, garden care, animals, games, and outdoor fun! Spots still open for Snipes Farm Day Camp!

Friends and Family Day at Princeton-Blairstown Center was a beautiful experience for our Sprout U families!

A very special thank you to CCFA “ Wanda Stansbury” for helping make this opportunity possible, and of course, thank you to Princeton-Blairstown Center for hosting such a meaningful and memorable day.

Parents, family members, and friends were invited to spend the day on the PBC campus and experience a glimpse of what campers participate in through Venture Out and Summer Bridge Programs. From the bus ride to collaborative team-building activities, hiking, outdoor learning, and shared experiences, our families were able to see firsthand the value of this incredible partnership.

Summer Bridge is a 5-day, 4-night experience that allows campers to grow, explore, build confidence, and connect with nature and one another in powerful ways.

This is truly the kind of place, experience, and opportunity you would want your children to have.

We are grateful, excited, and already looking forward to returning.
