I have always despised this quote about educators. There have been times in my teaching career where I did consume my own wants and needs for the greater good of my students, and I'd do it again in those specific instances. But this quote insinuates this is a way of life for a "GOOD" teacher. This should not be true for anyone, as a matter of fact.

Students, your worth is not tied up in what you can constantly do for others at the expense of your own identity, values, or mental health. I'm a firm believer that a life of purpose is a life of service, but sometimes, you are the one who needs serving. Take care of others, but also accept help from others. Light the way for others, but don't let that consume your own light. I love you guys, and I will use my light to help you all find/shine yours ❤️
