Other times, you're standing in a bunker wondering how you got there. I'm Valeria Brannen, known to most as Coach Val Valeria "Coach Val" Brannen was born in Medellín, Colombia, and picked up her first golf club at age six. She hasn't put it down since. As a junior, she won numerous tournaments in her home country, including two South American Championships in Brazil and Chile. She moved to the United States as a young mother with no support network and little English, which is a bit like teeing off on a course you've never seen, in the wind, without a yardage book. She worked multiple jobs, learned the language, and raised four children as a single mother, including a son with autism. When he was diagnosed, she put her professional golf ambitions on hold, but never her love for the game. Instead, she built a golf academy from the ground up. She has coached plenty juniors, many of whom earned college golf scholarships, and helped countless adults fall in love with the game all over again. Golf also took her in front of the cameras. She competed on Golf Channel's The Big Break III, IV, and VII, appeared on Golf Academy Live, Top Shelf, and All Access, and hosted Inside the PGA for Golf Channel Latin America. She still tees it up in celebrity golf events that raise money for charitable causes. On the business side of the game, Val served as Golf Sales Manager at the Diplomat and Turnberry resorts, booking tournaments, securing sponsors, and running events from the first phone call to the final putt. She's also a licensed Realtor, so if you're thinking about moving to North Florida, she can help you find a home, and probably a tee time. Wanting to make an even bigger impact, Val became a Certified Life Coach, Mental Performance Mastery Coach, and Hypnotherapist. Today she combines forty years of golf with mindset and performance training, helping golfers, athletes, parents, and individuals build confidence on and off the course. She is the Head Varsity Golf Coach for the boys' and girls' teams at Trinity Catholic High School, where her mission is to grow the game. She lives in Trenton, Florida, with her husband and their blended family, and when she's not on the course, she's usually training for her next triathlon or Ironman. Her goal is simple: to help others live with purpose, resilience, and confidence, one shot at a time.
