Dear Garber Family,

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of Garber Preschool’s garden of children for 25 years (1997-2022). Thank you for the wonderful celebrations and gifts you have given as I retire from this vital ministry of Garber UMC. The Preschool Board planned a beautiful celebration with the children on their last day for the year. The Church Ministry Staff treated me to a wonderful luncheon at the Chelsea. The Garber Preschool staff gave me a wonderful celebration with many former staff joining us. Then Pentecost Sunday was a beautiful culminating celebration of so many things with well wishes from so many. The love offering was very kind and generous. I am truly blessed to love and be loved by so many throughout my career and life.

The preschool years are for planting seeds. Seeds of faith, seeds of curiosity, seeds of confidence, seeds of creative expression all with a child’s daring willingness to try new things (from a baby rolling over to a young child walking a balance beam). The preschool years are the magical years where a child is not graded on outcomes and products but feels excitement and joy about the day “well played! “

What a joy it has been to plant the seeds, watch them grow, and know I was blessed to have a small part in the lives of so very many children. Preschool years are often erased from the memory by a child as he learns to read. However, that has never bothered me because I worked diligently to sow Godly seeds.

Has a flower ever really known or cared who or how it became planted? The seeds need so much care after planting that the sower can’t really take much credit for the outcome… but those flowers bring such joy to us all for years and years to come.

Never doubt that even though I am leaving Garber Preschool I will continue planting…
