What's on the horizon for this fall? 🍁

Autumn is around the corner, and we have a full lineup of hands-on public events open to everyone! Whether you want to dive into Great Lakes science, take in the foliage from the water, or capture local nature on canvas, there’s a spot on deck for you.

📚 NMC Classes
We’re partnering with Northwestern Michigan College Extended Education to offer three hands-on public classes exploring our Great Lakes watershed! Participants will get up close with invasive species, test stream chemistry, and study local riparian health.

🍂 Fall Color Sails
Experience autumn’s peak beauty aboard the schooner Inland Seas! Sail Suttons Bay to take in crisp air, quiet waters, and vibrant foliage. Help hoist the sails and steer, or simply relax and enjoy the view.

🎨 Leo Creek Sketch Out
Join ISEA and Urban Sketchers Traverse City for a creative morning at Leo Creek Preserve! Open to all skill levels, this community sketch-out is a relaxed space to capture the preserve's natural beauty.

NMC Extended Education & Training is officially settled at the Parsons-Stulen building at NMC's Aero Park campus.

By settled, we mean we hosted our first community event and life enrichment class in the building this week. (We're still figuring out where to put our microwave.)

Feel free to stop by Monday-Thursday between 9am-4pm if you haven't seen our new space yet.

Traverse Connect was proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting for NMC Extended Education & Training at its new location in the Parsons-Stulen Building at NMC’s Aero Park campus.

Following the sale of the Boardman Lake Campus, NMC Extended Education & Training has moved into a new space designed to better serve the community with a dedicated classroom and convenient location.

The team offers a wide range of opportunities through Workforce & Professional Development, Adult Life Enrichment, and College for Kids, providing programs that support career development, lifelong learning, and youth education.

Congratulations to NMC Extended Education & Training on the new space. We look forward to seeing all the ways you continue to serve and connect with the Northern Michigan community.

Join our curator for The Art of Being Present: A Slow Looking Series starting on September 2, and running every other Wednesday at 10am through November 11.

Modern health studies have shown that regular museum engagement acts as a powerful non-pharmacological intervention, lowering anxiety and promoting mental clarity. Each session in this series is a standalone invitation to quiet the noise and dive deep into just two or three select artworks.
