Early Explorers Daycare School

Early Explorers currently has one immediate opening in our licensed, Quality-Rated preschool and childcare program, with two additional spots opening in July due to schedule changes and a family relocation.

Located on the east side of Traverse City, Early Explorers is a warm, small-group program led by a dedicated husband-and-wife teaching team. We serve just 14 children ages 2–5, allowing for individualized attention and meaningful daily learning. Hours are 7:30 AM–5:30 PM.

Our program focuses on kindergarten readiness through early literacy and reading, math and number sense, Spanish, “Around the World” exploration, science, social skills, manners, and self-care—all within the Creative Curriculum framework. Our lead teacher holds an elementary education degree and an associate degree in child development.

We are also participating in the “Free Preschool for All” pilot program, which may allow eligible families to access tuition-free preschool through July. We accept DHS assistance, Tri-Share, Venmo, and cash.

Now is a wonderful time to join the Early Explorers family—where learning is hands-on, playful, and meaningful every day.

Magical March of 2026! We went Seuss Crazy all month with heavy focus on rhymes, syllables and word families. We also celebrated St Patrick’s Day and had a fun spirit week before Spring Break. For math, we focused on an introduction to place value, greater than and less than, counting up addition and introduction to subtraction with take away manipulatives. We also dug out the puppets for some extra fun!

February Fun in 2026! We celebrated our 100th day of school with collections of 100 things and dressed up like 100 year old people! We had a Valentines Party with special mailboxes for every friend. We wrapped up our study of Polar animals, the Arctic Circle and Antarctica. In math, we focused on counting and making patterns and sorting. We focused on sight words, phonics, and most preschoolers are learning to decode cvc words with short vowel sounds. We had some fun in the snow and when it was too cold, we had some yoga, musical chairs and dance parties with Danny Go!

January 2026

We started off the new year setting goals/resolutions and started developmental assessments in preparation for conferences in February. We learned about winter and the polar regions and started our Around the World program with a study of the Arctic and Antarctica.

November and December 2025 were filled with holiday magic employing all 5 of our senses from Thanksgiving to Christmas. We also learned how to keep our bodies healthy and growing, family, and learned how to be thankful and use good manners.

We have one opening coming up January 5.
