We had such a great time at Mustang Roundup last month, meeting members of the GTA classes of 2039 and 2040 and their parents. Children met kindergarten and Young Explorers teachers, toured classrooms, enjoyed music and Spanish language activities, went through an obstacle course, were treated to some snacks and had lots of fun, thanks to the many GTA staff members who participated. Special thanks to GoGo squeeZ for donating snacks and the Grand Traverse County Health Department for conducting vision, hearing and dental screenings on site.
Even if you missed Mustang Roundup, it's not too late to apply for GTA kindergarten or Young Explorers transitional kindergarten for the fall of 2026. A very limited number of spaces are still available but they are filling quickly. For more information, visit us at https://www.mygta.us/page/welcome, call us today at (231) 995-0665, or stop by our office off Hammond Road Monday-Thursday between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm (closed July 6-9). We look forward to hearing from you!

Mrs. Miling's 5th graders posed for a group photo on the last day of the school year, sporting the tie-dyed t-shirts they made together. We hope they have a fun summer and look forward to seeing them this fall in their final year of elementary school!

Last Friday was our traditional graduation ceremony for GTA Preschool students moving on to kindergarten or Young Explorers, planned and decorated so sweetly by preschool staff. This year's theme was "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," after the beloved alphabet book by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault. A big thanks to Ms. Meneau, Mrs. Page, Mrs. Cole, Mrs. Paul, Mrs. Riess and Mrs. Dean for putting it all together. What do they do with all the balloons after the event? Decorate the offices of Mrs. Floering, Mr. Toth, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Smith, of course (also an annual tradition!).

We were thrilled to have a special visit from the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City yesterday morning! Their willingness to accommodate our invitation when their busy schedule permits is much appreciated. Students watched the helicopter land and take off, took a tour, met the flight crew and posed for a photo op. Many thanks to Lt. Mike Frick, Lt. Rob Hodgson, AMT3 Jack Huffman and AMT1 Logan King for this exciting opportunity.

As a year-end project, Mrs. Haines read the book, "Not a Box," by Antoinette Portis, to her Young Explorers students. It features a small rabbit who shows how a box can be anything you want it to be, from a mountain to a rocket ship! Then, using reading and math standards and words they learned this school year, she had them make their own creation from cardboard boxes.
