As schools returned to campuses, the TC Christian family - staff, students, and a handful of parents - united in an all-school chapel, lifting voices in worship, praise, and prayer as we wrapped up the first week of school. The gathering beautifully spotlighted our theme for the year, "Love In Action" inspired by Proverbs 3:27: "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act." It's a powerful call to love our neighbor and serve the Lord. As we step into this new school year, we're eager to discover the wonders God has in store. Praise Him in all things!

Behind the scenes at TC Christian, there is so much heart, dedication, and joy poured into keeping our school running smoothly, and we are thrilled to feature our amazing business team as part of our Back to School Countdown!

Leading our financial operations, Chad Riley serves as our director of accounting and finance, expertly supported by Faith Erickson. Together, Chad and Faith manage the day-to-day business affairs of TCCS with extraordinary professionalism, wisdom, and grace. Beyond their exceptional talent and steadfast stewardship, they bring a wonderful sense of warmth and fun to our administration offices every single day.

We are deeply grateful for the dedication, energy, and joy Chad and Faith bring to our campus family, and we look forward to another incredible school year blessed by their leadership behind the scenes!

The TC Christian family is growing, and we are overjoyed to welcome three new faces to campus this year: Olivia, who is stepping into 6th grade, Julia, heading into 4th grade, and little Ezra, who is beginning his journey in Kindergarten! The Alekseyenko family name is already a cherished part of TCCS history, as dad, Max, along with his siblings - Tatyana, Dennis, Olenka, David, and Roman - are all proud TC Christian graduates.

Continuing this legacy, Max and his wife, Olga, shared their heart for raising their children in a Christ-centered environment, expressing that they want Olivia, Julia, and Ezra to receive a Christian education where they can be surrounded by God-fearing and Christ-loving individuals. "Being in school with other Christian-minded students will prevent undue influence from the temptations of the world around us while teaching them the importance of our faith to help them live a life for Jesus."

Max and Olga also added how much they value having teachers who serve as strong Christian role models, chapel services with guest speakers, and scripture like Matthew 16:26 integrated into daily learning to help their children thrive both academically and spiritually.

We are deeply grateful that Max and Olga are continuing their family's tradition with us, and we cannot wait to see all the wonderful ways Olivia, Julia, and Ezra grow in faith and knowledge this year!

Though Jaxson joined our school family last year, he missed out on the Back to School Countdown, so we're extra thrilled to give him a special highlight as he heads into another school year at TC Christian! Adding to the celebration, his mom, Delayna, is an invaluable part of our TCCS staff as our dedicated custodian, who has been working hard all summer to ensure our building is spotless and gleaming for the big first day.

Having seen the heart of our school firsthand through her work, Delayna shared that working at TCCS inspired her to enroll Jaxson so they could grow together in faith. "I have enjoyed everything I have learned about the school and wanted Jaxson to attend so he can be surrounded by a faith-based environment that helps him build a deeper understanding of God," Delayna said, adding her hope that "this experience will bring more faith into our everyday lives and make church and faith events feel comfortable and familiar."

We are so blessed to have Delayna keeping our campus shining and so excited to watch Jaxson continue to learn, thrive, and grow in our TCCS community this year!

With just 5 days to go until the new school year officially starts, we're excited to feature our incredible new staff members as part of our Back to School Countdown! In the short time they have been with us, each of them has integrated seamlessly into the TCCS team, bringing fresh energy, deep faith, and a heart for service.

Already hands-on in the front office is Administrative Assistant, Kristen Arlt, who shared that "God’s goodness has been evident over these last few weeks, and I’m so humbled by His love and provision for us. He is good all the time!"

Joining us in the gymnasium is PE teacher, Travis Gucky, who reflected on his personal journey of faith: "I have had a strong faith since the second grade and over the last five years, have felt God calling me to grow in new ways and to trust His timing. Following His plan has led me here to Traverse City Christian School, and I am very excited to join this wonderful school and community."

Coming all the way from Marquette to teach Middle School English, Kaiya Mourey is eager to build warm connections. "I’m a huge people person", says Kaiya, "and enjoy spending time with my friends and loved ones, as well as meeting new people and getting involved. I’m so excited to get to know everyone in the TC Christian community!"

Heading up our athletic programs, new Athletic Director, Noah Phillips, is ready to cheer on our teams. "My faith is central to my life, and I’m excited to integrate athletics with the school’s mission of glorifying God and equipping students to transform the world for Jesus Christ. I’m honored to be the new athletic director at TC Christian and look forward to a great year ahead. Go Sabres!"

Bringing vibrant creativity to the studio, Art teacher, Gracie Weiss, an avid runner training for the Detroit International Half Marathon. Gracie and her husband, Will, are Hope grads and have lived in Florida since 2007, where Gracie taught in both Christian and public schools. In 2025, the family moved back to Michigan and Gracie said, "I am so excited to be part of the TC Christian family teaching my passion - art! As the Word says in Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."

Rounding out our wonderful additions, MS/HS Spanish teacher Ruth Ayers noted how natural the choice was for her family: "Choosing TCCS as both a place to work and a school for our daughter was an easy decision. The opportunity to serve Jesus, invest in students, and raise our daughter in such a strong Christian community is a tremendous blessing. We are grateful to become part of the TCCS family and are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us in the coming year."

We are truly blessed to welcome these exceptional educators and leaders, and we cannot wait to see how the Lord works through them to impact our students and campus this year! Countdown

We are thrilled to welcome the Arlt family to the countdown as they make their move from downstate and join our TC Christian community! This year, big sister Genesis is stepping into 7th grade while her little sister, Eden, joins our 5th grade class. The excitement doesn't stop there. Our school family gets a double blessing as mom, Kristen, joins the TCCS team as our new administrative assistant in the school office!

Reflecting on their move, parents Justin and Kristen shared that TC Christian was the very first school they considered, expressing their heart for this new chapter. "Our hope is that along with good academics, Genesis and Eden will learn to love and serve the Lord and grow in their walk with Him," said Justin and Kristen.

We are excited that Justin, Kristen, Genesis, and Eden are joining the TC Christian family, and we cannot wait to see all the wonderful ways they bless our school community both in the classrooms and in the front office!
