After a lot of consideration and consultation with my family, and with very mixed emotions, I have decided to put the Makers Market on hiatus for a year and (fingers crossed) come back swinging next fall.

As a lot of you know, the Market is a pure labor of love for us. I’ve spent most of the last five summers working a normal gig, then organizing the Market on nights and weekends. It gets to be a lot, and I—and perhaps more importantly, my family—need a break.

As you can imagine, this has been a difficult decision for us. It is so important to me to keep the handmade movement alive and well in Traverse City, and to help enrich the landscape of our art community; It’s hard to loosen my grip on that for a little while. But I do believe I’m doing the right thing for the Market and for my family, and am hoping this year of rest will give me a renewed sense of energy and purpose.

But enough about me: Thank YOU for your understanding and continued support. I couldn’t have done any of what I did over the last five years without your help and encouragement and can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am for it. You guys truly are the best.

Please continue to follow our page and look for new things coming. There will be stuff, I swear!

Best wishes and a wonderful summer to you all.
