🚨An incredible FREE KAP therapy opportunity for Women in EMS 🚑

The annual KAP therapy retreat for women in EMS, hosted by the Wabi Sabi Circle nonprofit, is now accepting applications for its 4th retreat!

Important dates:

The application deadline is October 3rd OR when 125 apps are received, whichever comes first.

The retreat is being hosted April 17th-24th, 2027 in Costa Rica 📍

***All costs are covered with the exception of travel to and from the retreat***

What’s Included:
3 guided ketamine therapy sessions
Breathwork, group integration, Yin yoga, & equine therapy
Private, nature-immersed accommodations
Hosted on an equine sanctuary
Nourishing meals prepared daily
A supportive community of EMS women & trauma-informed clinicians

I have personally used KAP with great success. I will be on site for this retreat to act as a liaison between the EMS women and the facilitators, as well as an added support throughout each ketamine journey and group integration.

I have no influence over who gets in and do not have direct access to the entries, which are held to HIPAA-compliant privacy standards during the intake process. The final selection process of the 8 women is left entirely up to our lead Clinical Psychologist and President/Founder, Dr. Tracy Covington.

“The Great Boat-lift of 9/11 became the largest sea evacuation in history. Larger than the evacuation of Dunkirk in WWII, where 339,000 British & French soldiers were rescued over the course of 9 days. On 9/11, nearly 500,000 civilians were rescued by boat. It took less than 9 hours.”

I start every morning of September 11th by watching this short and powerful documentary. I encourage you to do the same and pass it on to someone else. Our nation is at its peak for division, and this story reminds me of a time not too long ago when it wasn’t like that.

I will continue to share this remarkable story from 9/11 each year because every time I do, at least one person learns about it who didn’t know about it before. Watch and then tell this story to someone else.

I remember thinking it wasn’t right for her to be on an involuntary hold because how understandable her feelings of hopelessness were. Even that night, I wondered if it did anything to help or harm her further. I don’t recall if she had a plan or means to execute the plan so I can’t speak to the decision to place her on a hold. I just remember thinking how understandable it was to feel that way in the moment and hoping she got the support she needed. I feel like I could have done so much more had I known what I know now.

Research highlights that parents deeply want their child’s life to still be acknowledged:

“Stillborn babies come into our world silent and our culture seemingly consigns them to silence thereafter. Parents described their story as one that does not fit with what society wants it to be (i.e., return to life as usual); as a result, their grief is socially constrained, and their story is often silenced.”

Dr. Antevy has been my ally in grief, bereavement and death notification education for 8 years and his heart led practice and philosophies never cease to move me.

I’m grateful for this chat we got to have before boarding our flights after a conference in Austin earlier this year.

Inviting family to be in the room is difficult but with proper management can be beneficial for all parties involved ♥️

1. Monitor the patient
2. Manage the team
3. Speak to the mother/parents
