Last week was all about our teachers! We certainly appreciate these BCA pioneers. Year 1 of any teaching job is not easy, but Year 1 teaching in Year 1 of a school’s existence can be both greatly challenging and utterly rewarding! THANK YOU, teachers! 👩‍🏫📝🍎

Also, a special shoutout to Mrs. April Swanger who helped organize everything this week (May 1-5), and to the parents who helped make this week special for our teachers by bringing in lots of delicious calories and generous gifts. 🎉

Mrs. Rogers exudes her very name – JOY! Her mirthful disposition is a genuine feature that she wears wherever she goes and part of whatever she does. Teaching Kindergarten students takes patience, understanding, and a whole lotta love, and Ms. Joy demonstrates all these positive traits for success in spades. She is punctual, likes to work ahead on upcoming projects and deadlines, and is never short on ideas that she can possibly implement in the classroom. And, most of all, she desires to see every child in her classroom follow Jesus Christ.

In addition to teaching, Joy and her husband, Ben, are raising two beautiful children while serving in a plethora of roles here at Bethany Baptist Church of Travelers Rest. Their breadth and depth of service denotes the love that the Roger’s have for their church family.

We are so happy to have Ms. Joy aboard for our maiden voyage, and look forward to many more years of her service to the Lord here at BCA!

Our two- and three-year olds are blessed to have Ms. Bailey Misseijer in their classroom to assist Mrs. Glidewell on a daily basis. She loves the little ones and they clearly love her even if they cannot clearly say her name yet. 😂

Bailey possesses a keen mind and a quick wit. After working in an accounting firm and a law firm during her gap year following high school, Bailey decided to go back to school. She is a busy young lady working and going to school full time, but she balances her responsibilities well. She loves God and all His creation – especially our furry and feathered friends as she is a good momma to her kitty cat, Sly, as well as to her two geese and two ducks. Bailey has always loved horseback riding and relishes the time she gets to pursue that passion.

BCA would like to thank Bailey for her vital contribution to our inaugural year!

BCA very much appreciates the time and effort invested in our school by Mrs. Nadine McCall. No task proves too small for her to undertake, and her work ethic, willing spirit, and stick-to-itive-ness is an exemplary example to the young people under her guidance and care.

Ms. Nadine raised a daughter and three sons of her own alongside her husband, Leo. She is part of the choir ministry here at Bethany Baptist Church, and serves as an integral part in getting the church fellowship hall ready for gatherings. She also makes a mean pot roast, as well as anything else that touches the palate.

Thank you, Ms. Nadine, for ALL you do!

Happy Teacher Appreciation to Mrs. Maria Chism!

Mrs. Chism teaches our First and Second Grade students here at BCA. After being away from the classroom for several years in order to focus on raising her own EIGHT children, Ms. Maria jumped back into the brick and mortar – just as if she’d never left - to instruct and mentor a bunch of seven and eight year-olds. No doubt, she’s done an EXCEPTIONAL job! Always pointing her students to Christ, she has shared in the joy of seeing several children making a profession of faith from the biblical seeds planted in her classroom.

Maria loves God and loves her family, and she certainly loves her students. She is married to Jeremy Chism, the Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, and this year they celebrate their 20th year of faithful service to the Lord here at Bethany. Mrs. Chism’s fingerprints exist on ALL parts of this ministry from leading the Ladies’ ministry to preparing churchwide fellowships to attending to countless families over the years through the bereavement process. In short, she does whatever needs to be done to make things operate as smoothly as possible here on the church and school campus, and for that we are extremely grateful!

A teacher appreciation week shoutout to our pre-K teacher, Ms. Michelle!

A sweet, sweet spirit and a sacrificial, servant’s heart defines Mrs. Glidewell. In addition to holding down the fort with our K2’s and K3’s every morning, she lends a big assist in the school office in the afternoons. She and her husband, Josh, serve as the youth group leaders at Bethany Baptist Church, and she uses her beautiful soprano voice for the Lord in the church choir, special music groups, and as a soloist.

Ms. Michelle is a HUGE blessing to BCA and we are very fortunate to have her on our staff!

Happy Birthday, Ms. April!!! 🎁🎂🥳🎈🎉

Mrs. Swanger has a heart for the ministry at Bethany and a heart for our kids! She is always ready and willing to do whatever needs to be done here at BCA, filling our “cracks” wherever she’s needed. Raising four kids of her own, Ms. April and her husband, Jonathan, lead the music ministry here at Bethany Baptist Church. In addition, she works in the school office attending to various secretarial responsibilities, shares her passion for music with our student body by teaching them music theory and preparing them for participation in a variety of school and church programs, and even helps monitor some of our online-based students.

We love you, Ms. April and we wish you the most fabulous of days!!!

One of Woodmen Life insurance group’s slogans is “A Life Insurance Company that Gives Back.” Bethany Christian Academy served as a beneficiary of their benevolence in giving back as Debra Lee, Irene Bechtle and Debbie Barnett stopped by on 3/10/2023 from Woodmen Life Greenville Chapter 3 to deliver much needed school supplies and a check toward our new toddler playground. 🛝
