The Indiana FFA is a statewide youth organization of over 12,500 student members as part of 215 local FFA chapters in 90 of the 92 counties in Indiana. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. The Indiana FFA is a subsidiary of The National FFA O

rganization, which operates under a federal charter granted by the 81st United States Congress and it is an integral part of public instruction in agriculture in middle and high schools in Indiana. The Indiana State Department of Agriculture and provides leadership at the state level and helps set direction for FFA as a service to local agricultural education programs. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, as well.

Investing in agriculture starts with investing in agricultural educators 🌱

A dedicated group of retired Indiana agriculture teachers has established the Indiana Teach Ag Fund—an endowment designed to recruit, mentor, train, and support current and future agricultural educators across the state. From beginning teacher mentoring and CASE training to classroom enhancement grants and professional development, this fund will help ensure Indiana’s ag programs continue to thrive for generations to come.

Every great FFA chapter begins with a passionate ag teacher. Thank you to the retired educators who are planting seeds today for the future of agricultural education in Indiana.
