Father Paul MacKenzie plays a key part in the Prison baseball project. His role and script is among the more difficult of all members of the Cast o' Characters.

He has just led another ball player down the long, dark hallway.
Now, he must darn his socks in the night when there's nobody there.

He never took a back-step to anyone... especially the Authorities.
At age 73, he threw 98 m.p.h. fastballs in route to a two-hit shutout against The Ringers (the guards' team.)

He then took his last walk with the Sad Ol' Padre, with over 100 of the Warden's Pauper Poppers standing guard..... just in case Thudd (physically) objected to his upcoming hanging for 'aggravated' jaywalking.

Izzard Kannaught Kant... now in color.

A charter member of the Ol' Illustrator's Cast o' Characters, Izzy caught the last seat in the back of the boxcar. He's also the last of the 'Panhandler Project' images to be posted.

These Carnies are going on vacation, while the Ol' Illustrator concentrates on presenting them all in book form.

You may have noticed that I've recently posted quite a volley of work.
After quite an extended stretch of drawing and painting, I've got some editing to do, in preparation for publication of the three resulting 'booklets', as I refer to them.
I want to thank each and every one of you who have gone to my homepage and viewed my photos, reels, and videos... many of you on a regular basis. 👍

For thirty-one years, Witchita Railroad Line employee #171 provided friendly and efficient service to passengers heading West.
As a porter / baggage handler, #171 rarely missed a day of work and always arrived early to his designated platform.
Amazingly, in all those years, not one passenger ever asked him his name.
When retirement time arrived, #171 chose to become the team bus driver for the Leavenworth Lifers prison baseball club. Inside that cramped, sweaty, old bus he finally experienced a sense of dignity, decency, and belonging.

Constantly hounded by Warden McTavish's Posse, August St. James is imprisoned while his farm (and the oil underneath it) is stolen by Big Mike's court system.

After reading the Fuller Brush Man's Code of Ethics, August re-directs his new life with Lois Dagwood. He will join the search for Dignity and Decency, leaving no stone unturned.
