𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙮 𝙏𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙮 our mindfulness bear arrived, just in time for our Teddy Bear's Picnic on Wednesday, July 10th.

He found the perfect spot in our 🌿 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 🌿 and is dedicated to supporting our littles.

His flexibility in adapting to various positions will encourage our littles to try new postures in order to find what positions they are more comfortable in when they need some time for mindfulness. His soft texture also creates a tactile sensory connection and who doesn't like a soft, cozy bear.

🌿We love offering our littles opportunities to relax their bodies and find a variety of methods they can use to calm their bodies and minds. 🌱

We find that when we introduce new techniques when they are in a calm state, they can connect new materials to positive vibes rather than introducing materials when they are in an agitated state. 🌿

So today, we added our lavender weighted eye masks (available on Amazon), a newer tool, and included a familiar item, our weighted teddy

🌿Now, the mental association of the calming technique is connected to a positive experience, and the children are more apt to ask specifically for one or both of these materials or a former calming technique they enjoy.🌱

Our Peace Place Center is one of the newest extension of our home environment. It offers a place where the children can take time to step away from social interaction and emotionally connect with themselves.

With an abundance of resources, each child can find what meets their needs. From hands on materials that offer tactile techniques for calming, to books, drawing materials and noise canceling or easy listening jr. headphones.

We offer just enough materials without being overstimulating.

Supporting Families | Child Development Assessment

Did you know there are no-charge services available for families to support their young child's development if there are possible delays? Early intervention is one key to ensuring children get the best start in life if there are some delays in development or behavioral issues.

As a childcare provider we take seriously the role we play in the health and well-being of every child in our program. While we are not professional child development evaluators, we do spend much time with each individual child therefore, we are in a position to see things that may not be as apparent to others. Thus, if we notice behaviors that give us pause for concern, we may refer families to Help Me Grow of Orange County. (For California families living outside of Orange County, refer to Early Start - CA Dept of Developmental Services (www. dds.ca.gov /services/early-start)

Help Me Grow OC staff are well equipped to assist you and your child to see if a referral for assessment is needed and then guide you to arrange for such an assessment. Services are available at no cost to families.

We are always looking for new foods and keeping some favorite kid friendly dishes on our weekly menus. Since we are in 'cold and flu' season, keeping in mind these points will help parents know when their child may be excluded in addition to their programs sick policy. Of course ultimately a provider can ascertain if an individual child should be excluded. .

And while we know keeping sick children home and taking time off of work isn't always easy, bringing sick children to day care inevitably gets other children sick, including provider.

So now is a good time for parents to talk with friends and family who either dont work or work hours that may be able to offer back-up care for your sick child in the event you must go to work.
