Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Omega Zeta Chapter

The FINER ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Tau Omega Zeta Chapter, honors Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, as an historic moment in American history. On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the last enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas, marking the true beginning of freedom for all.

We proudly recognize the efforts of our own trailblazing Soror, Opal Lee, the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” whose unwavering advocacy helped make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday in 2021.

Today, we celebrate emancipation, reflect on our ancestors’ strength and resilience, and recommit to the work of advancing justice, equity, and unity. Through education, action, and solidarity, we move closer to a world rooted in true freedom for all.

This past Saturday, the FINER ladies of the Tau Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated had the pleasure of hosting our Annual Shrimp & Bull Roast Fundraiser, and we are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the tremendous support we received.

To every person who purchased a ticket, shared our event, brought a guest, purchased raffle tickets, or simply supported us in any way—thank you. The success of this event was made possible because of you. Your presence helped create an atmosphere filled with great people, positive energy, outstanding music, fellowship, and community spirit.

Most importantly, your support will have a lasting impact on the students of Halethorpe Elementary School, our Adopt-A-School partner. The proceeds from this event will help provide much-needed school supplies and resources to support students as they prepare for a successful upcoming school year.

Today, the FINER ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Omega Zeta Chapter proudly pause to celebrate and honor our Madam President, Soror La’Tisha Gaines, on her 7th Zetaversary!

Seven years ago, Soror Gaines took an oath rooted in Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood and she continues to walk boldly in that commitment each and every day. Throughout her journey, she has served faithfully and diligently in numerous leadership capacities, including Secretary, Second Vice President, Z-HOPE Coordinator, Amicae Sponsor, and Undergraduate Advisor. Today, she continues to lead with excellence as the Chapter President of Tau Omega Zeta Chapter and the State of Maryland Treasurer.

Soror Gaines, we see your dedication. We honor your leadership. We appreciate your unwavering commitment to our beloved sisterhood and to the communities you so passionately serve. Your zeal, grace, vision, and determination continue to inspire those around you.
