Alpha Xi Delta was founded on April 17, 1893 at Lombard College in Galesburg, IL, by 10 outstanding women. Our Theta Delta Chapter, at Towson University, was founded on April 8, 1990. We are so excited to celebrate our 25th year on Towson's campus! Our vision, through Alpha Xi Delta, is "Inspiring women to realize their potential." We help our women achieve this goal through our famous motto, "The
pen is mightier than the sword." The colors of AXiD are double blue & gold and our national flower is the Pink Rose. The beautiful "Betxi Bear" is our mascot. The national philanthropy we hold closest to our heart is Autism Speaks. Here at Towson, we also take pride in hosting Locks of Love, a philanthropy that becomes even more successful every semester! We have 113 chapters nationwide and over 140,000 members total! Famous AXiD'S include: Betsey Johnson (Fashion Designer), Amanda Pennekamp (Miss South Carolina 2004, Miss Earth USA 2006), Jan Davis (Astronaut), Patsy Ramsey (Miss West Virginia 1977), Kim Webster (Actress), Deborah Pryce (Politician, House of Representatives)
