NDP students Lizzy M. ’28, Abigail-Clare B. ’28, Ava S. ’27, Emma H. ’27, and Caroline A. ’28 spent a fun and informative day with David O’Ferrall, P ‘26, learning about the Motion Picture and Television industry in Maryland and across the country at Mid-Atlantic Studio Mechanics & Broadcast Technicians. This work spans from major broadcast journalism at local hubs to independent film productions and streaming series. They also learned about the various career paths, including digital producers, news editors, broadcast engineers, videographers, camera operators, production assistants, and specialized digital artists and video editors. Our students will never watch a movie or show the same way after this WINternship! Many thanks to Mr. O’Ferrall for this great learning experience!!

Braelyn C.R. ’27 and Julia D. ’29 had a wonderful day at the HQ office in Washington, D.C. They met with Mr. John Shoaff, P’23, Director, Office of Air Policy and Program Support (OAPPS). This office supports and coordinates cross-cutting air quality issues for the U.S. EPA, including science policy, research coordination, economics, international engagement, regulatory development, congressional and freedom-of-information requests, and process improvement. They enjoyed learning about Mr. Shoaff’s background, career path, and day-to-day responsibilities at the Agency. It was inspiring to hear about all the efforts to protect public health and the environment!! Many thanks to Mr. Shoaff, P’23, for coordinating this informative and fun learning experience.
