💕💕💕 DEAR KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES... 💕💕💕
Keep watch for a letter in the mail coming in the next day or two to explain a couple of ways we welcome our littlest learners to MES!
The letter details two initiatives designed to smoothly transition your incoming child to kindergarten. The first is a Kindergarten Orientation Session for kindergarten families and the second is a Staggered Start Day for our kindergartners.
Kindergarten Orientation Session – Prior to kindergarten, we like to offer kindergarten parents information in a smaller setting with their child’s teacher through a Kindergarten Orientation. This will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 5:00pm-6:00pm. In this session, your child will get a tour the school and get a snack with MES school staff while you get the opportunity to get specific information and ask questions of your child’s kindergarten teacher.
Staggered Start Days for Kindergartners – In an effort to ensure our youngest learners have the best start possible and build on the enthusiasm of beginning school, we will welcome students on a “staggered start” schedule. This means that your student will attend only one of the first two days of school. Attendance will be credited both days. Many of our students have never attended school for a full day. By providing teachers with a smaller group, we are able to orient them to school, get to know them and provide attention that is more individual. They will also be able to make initial relationships with classmates within the smaller group. Everyone will then attend together Friday, September 3, 2021. The letter coming in the mail will tell you which of the first two days your child will attend as well as a welcome letter from your child's kindergarten teacher!
