Townshend Elementary School

On Friday, October 9th members from the Townshend Volunteer Fire Department joined us for our All School Assembly. Chief Brian Schmidt, Firefighter Delano Schmidt (a TES alumni), Firefighter Jaycob Desautels, and Lieutenant Tim Bell all gave of their time to provide a fun learning experience for our students.The firefighters gave a brief fire safety demonstration for our students and staff. Firefighter Delano Schmidt did an excellent job speaking to the entire school about the equipment the firefighters wear and have with them during an emergency situation. After the all school presentation students went out to view and learn more about Townshend's brand new fire truck - 33E2. The fire fighters explained about different areas of the truck and what equipment was used for. The students loved being able to walk through the fire truck. We are so thankful for our volunteer fire department members and all of their time and dedication to our town.

Today we were excited to present our 2nd Community Champion Round of A-Paws Award to Townshend Volunteer FIre Department. Chief Schmidt received the award at our All School Assembly this morning. We are glad to have such strong community partners like the TVFD helping to keep our town safe. Thank you TVFD!

This year we wanted to recognize local, community members/groups that contribute so much to our community and specifically to our Townshend Elementary School Community , so we are proud to begin giving out "Community Champion Round of A-Paws Awards".

On 9/25/26 We proudly awarded our first "Community Champion Round of A-Paws" to West River Valley Thrives. We were thrilled to present this award to Sara Webb and Katelyn Sherman of WRVT at our All School Assembly. Thank you to West River Valley Thrives for all of the amazing support they offer in our community, to our TES families and to our TES staff!

A very delayed posting of this Round of A-Paws recipients. My apologies for the delay, I was waiting for permission forms to come back with approval to post students photos. This Round of A-Paws awards was back in early September. Congratulations to all these amazing Black Bears!
