Meet Maya Jaworski ‘28! She’s currently one of our Museum Ambassadors as well as a Gallery Attendant for Picker Art Gallery.

Maya is a Sociology major with a minor in Global Public and Environmental Health. When asked about her favorite part of working at UM, she said “I love being able to work around art and help others engage with and appreciate it.” In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in Marketing or Public Relations within the museum field. Thank you for all of your hard work, Maya!

There is a crisis among Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives happening right now. On some reservations, Native women face murder rates more than 10 times the national average. And thousands of Indigenous people are reported missing each year, and most cases receive little to no media coverage.

University Museums stand in solidarity with the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center and emphasize that this advocacy is not limited to a single week, but a continuous issue that demands attention and action. During the 2026 National Week of Action for MMIWR from May 4 to May 8, we highlight the urgency of this crisis.

On May 5th, wear red to honor those lost and stand for justice with us.

Arts, Creativity, and Innovation weekend 2026 is here! This weekend’s program is stacked with amazing arts-related programming. From the Global Speaker Series lecture by Tracee Ellis Ross (tonight at 6:30), to the Gould jazz concert (Saturday at 7:00 p.m.), to panels about careers in the arts, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

University Museums are pleased to host everyone for two very special events:

Today from 4:30- 5:30 p.m. join us at the Longyear Museum of Anthropology for the opening celebration of Tempestry: The Art of Climate Data and an arts networking hour. We look forward to celebrating this amazing exhibition that was borne out of a massive campus-wide collaboration.

Saturday at noon, join the Picker Art Gallery for a very special tour of Talk Soon, America: Letters to a land of promise and paradox, presented by the student curators who developed the exhibition.
