This is extremely impressive, just as the performance of a high level black belt in any martial art is extremely impressive.
There are so many steps towards accomplishing something such as this. The very beginning steps of learning how to handle paper, how to make simple folds, how to make folds accurately, how to make folds in the right places, how to make folds well. Learning how to plan what to make, how to see what it will look look like long before it exists. Planning how folding patterns will evolve and where various parts and pieces will end up so many folds later, with folds upon folds and folds within folds, everything constantly moving within a three dimensional field. Learning refined techniques such as wetting and drying to help shape and preserve.
Working first on countless simple pieces ... stars, boxes, balls, cranes, rabbits. Advancing slowly to objets of greater complexity. Constantly pushing patience, persistence, inspiration, techniques, skills, tricks, envisioning, planning, executing, accomplishment. Accepting failure as a learning experience and always trying again ... and again ... and again.
Only years of experience, only many levels of folding, can culminate in a product such as this, a product of a very high belt ranking in the simple art of folding a simple piece of paper in an incredibly complex manner. This represents not only a mastery of folding paper, but also a high degree of self-mastery.
This is why we who are not masters of self and of paper folding can only look on in awe, but with little understanding – because we have not followed this endless path of mastery of paper or of self. We only see a glimpse of the art and technique and then the final product while being blind to the intricacies of the total process - a process that involves so much more than the folding of this one item. This video represents a lifetime of dedicated experience compressed into under five minutes.

Sadly we have to take a break and will not have any classes until after the New Year

30/08/2020

Key Karate North will hold classes at Franklin Elementary on Tuesday & Thursday night, beginners 4:30-5:30, color belts 5:30-6:30.
Due to Covid precautions you must be in uniform when you come, must bring your own water bottle and should plan on staying in the room for the entire hour. Masks are mandatory and hand sanitizer will be provided and must be used to enter the room. Sadly there will be no class in Tower this school year.

I have summited an application for room usage at the Franklin Elementary school. TKD class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights again this school year. I will post start date and times once I have received approval for room usage.
