Located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Harlan County, Kentucky, Harlan County Christian School is a ministry of Putney Bible Church.
Harlan County is located in the southeastern tip of Kentucky bordering Virginia. Harlan County has a quarter of it’s population that is school age. The poverty rate is almost triple the national average, with almost half of school age children growing up in poverty.
Because of the level of poverty in the county and our desire to disciple and educate children with a biblical worldview, HCCS is completely free to the students we serve.
The mission of Harlan County Christian School is to develop an understanding in each student’s mind of his/her need of salvation through faith alone in Christ. Building upon that foundational truth, the school focuses on biblical truth as the foundation for all academic instruction, extra-curricular activities, and social development. It is the goal of HCCS to motivate our students to develop a Christian lifestyle and outlook that results in service to God and mankind.
We exist to provide a quality education while instilling within our students a firm foundation of God’s word and helping disciple their personal relationship with Him for sharing Jesus with a lost and dying world.
