Only one team could come out of today's Volleyball match still undefeated and in the end it was the Torrington Raiders who rose to the challenge.
This was our most difficult match of the year as we faced Aces of Chase Middle School on their home court. We started behind in the first set due to our struggle to return their serves. Once we started to work together the game started to swing our way.
Maya Gamari showed why she deserves the title of Captain. She controlled the floor offensively and defensively with tips, kills, and serves and kept her team focused through the entire match. She was unstoppable! Our other team Captain, Johanny Cruz had a streak of key serves marked by many aces in set 2. Other stand outs were Brianna Saunders with her focused net play and Brianna Mora, our secret weapon who has a sweet serve that is always consistent. In the end the Varsity won both sets by a score of 25 to 16.
JV took the court and dominated, winning 15 to 2 and 15 to 7 in two sets. Set 1 was marked by the defensive play of Gianna Cote and the successive serves by Harley Battistoni and Camila Loja. In set 2 Gianna Box contributed with 6 straight serves to seal the win.
