Why this collaboration matters.
I grew up between Hawaiʻi and Los Angeles. Both places shaped who I am, how I carry myself, and why I live the way I do.
This collaboration with Pontis comes from a friendship rooted in Hawaiʻi. One that has lasted through a lot of chapters, some easy, some not. Real friendships and relationships hold. Even when things get complicated, even when there’s distance, the connection remains.
That’s what this kimono and rashguard represent to me. Hawaiʻi to California. Two people who care about this art and this community, building something they’re proud of.
This is Zumi gear. Designed for our mats, our students, our community.

NANKA Spring Judo Tournament
This past weekend was packed with a lot of amazing Judo, great people, and seeing old friends.
Two of our ZUMI coaches made it through their bracket and met each other in the Finals!! Good fun to watch!

Our ZUMI instructors had the chance to learn from World Champion Joshiro Maruyama & it was next level!
Beyond the sharp technique & details, he spoke about respect for your partner, your teachers, & the process of getting better every day. We came back grounded & full of inspiration!
A simple reminder that at ZUMI Academy, respect isn’t just something we say… it’s how we train & how we grow together.
