Dear Patrons of Akai,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this letter to inform you that my husband, Jay, and I are retiring and that after 57 years of serving the South Bay, Akai Swim School, Inc. will be closing as of Sept 4, 2014.
For the past 25 years that we have owned Akai it has been more than a job, it has been my life. I have celebrated with you births, graduations, birthdays, weddings and sadly even attended funerals of members of my Akai family. I have gained friendships that I hope will continue and I will miss you.
It has been an honor and a privilege to have been able to serve the South Bay community for these many years. We have enjoyed teaching your children to swim, as well as providing a safe, fun and healthy environment for your families to swim and enjoy our beautiful weather. We are also happy to have been able to provide jobs for so many of our high school and college students as they entered into the work force. Over the years many of them have returned to Akai with their own families.
To our swim students, if you have any lessons remaining, you will need to arrange to take them by August 28, 2014, as that will be the last day we will be offering swim lessons.
For our club members, we will be issuing prorated refunds for the balance of your membership as set forth in the membership agreement.
So with sadness, I say goodbye, but, with hopeful anticipation of what lies ahead for me, I look forward to the future. We have been blessed to be a part of the South Bay community and of your families.

Session #8 begins today; the last spring session before summer!!

Beginning May 5th, our summer sessions registration is open! The longer you wait to sign up, the less likely you'll get your preferred time, so don't delay! We will have a new session every two weeks, with the first session beginning on June 23rd, and the last session beginning on August 18th; with classes starting every half-hour, as early as 9am, and starting as late as 6:30pm.
