Torrance High Class of '72 Reunion

Gerald "Gerry" Holland, passed on April 21, 2026 at age 87. He was our THS track coach and friend to many alumni years after we graduated. According to his son, Steve Holland, dementia got the better of him late in life.

Unfortunately, also passing from our THS days is our Principal (Junior and Senior year?) Dr. Harold Klonecky, on November 16, 2025 in Torrance. He was 98 years old.

Very sorry to report that our classmate, Dave Heath, passed away from cancer on September 23rd, 2025. Dave married Patti Bazell, also from our class, and they spent a wonderful 41 years married before his death. Dave was a skilled cabinet maker and artist who also loved music and baseball. He had a quirky and fun sense of humor. Dave was a true and loyal friend to many, especially his wife Patti who he loved very much. Patti lives in Veneta Oregon where many of her family also reside.

The following is an update from Sandra Bonitz, regarding the upcoming reunion she is organizing: Thank you for your info. This event is not a Highschool reunion but a 70th Bday Celebration initiated by Hickory Hound Classmates Class of 1969/ Torrance Tarters/ South High Spartans Class Of 1973. Because of the rising number of classmate funerals, the consensus was to have an event & what better time than now than to celebrate in person most of us turning 70! Sorry to report that Carol Massie has passed away, apparently afflicted with cancer after our July reunion. According to Ron Davis, our classmate and her ex-husband, Carol had no idea she was sick when we last saw her at the reunion. According to Ron she passed away peacefully around Thanksgiving while under Hospice in Carlsbad. Below is a wonderful happy shot of her at the 50-Year with Toni, Bob, and Becky. She always had a smile on her face.
