It's all about the students. It's about your art, your lives, your ideas. It is a room, a space, a Sanctuary.

People come here not knowing what to do or what to expect. They leave speaking a new language, understanding more about art and themselves. They take with them the knowledge that they are more than they thought they were. They know that they can do more and better things than they had previously considered possible.

I have just accepted a position teaching ceramics for the City of Torrance at the Cultural Arts Center. The Saturday classes begin on January 19th and run for eight weeks. They include a Parent and Child class from 12:30-2:00pm for 3-6 year olds, a Hand-Building class from 2:30-4:00pm for 6-9 year olds, and a Teen Ceramics Studio from 4:30-6:00pm for 13-17 year olds. Please share this information with anyone you know who may be interested in attending. I look forward to this next project and trust that it will be engaging and developmental for all involved! I also look forward to seeing a familiar face or two along the way.

We, the students of Torrance High, thank you for taking the time to look at our work. Art can only speak in dialogue. Without the observer, we are mute.

The Hardest Part of Teaching 07/11/2014

The Hardest Part of Teaching They never tell you in teacher school, and it's rarely discussed elsewhere. It is never, ever portrayed in movies and tv shows about teaching. Teachers rarely bring it up around non-teachers for fear it will make us look weak or inadequate....

I would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Joyous Saturnalia, and a Prosperous 2014. Especially the students of Torrance High School, you have been my life-line for the past sixteen years.

Remember Folks, I have taken some work to my storage for you and would REALLY LIKE to get it back to you as soon as possible. Drop me a line on this page or my personal page. Craig Druitt

The keys are turned in, but I still have work from many of those who left before they could pick it up. Will be contacting you... Also, don't say anything, but there may be some life left in The Sanctuary yet. :)
