South Bay Enrichment Academy

South Bay Enrichment Academy South Bay Enrichment Academy (SBEA) is a K-12 summer school for academics (High School) and enrichment (Elem. and Middle School) serving the South Bay.

More than 1,500 Torrance area students attend summer school at the South Bay Enrichment Academy (SBEA). SBEA is a subsidiary of Torrance Education Foundation. Established by TEF in 2009, summer school coursework is offered for both Elementary and Secondary students for the period extending from the end of the regular school term, beginning at the end of June and continuing through July. Periodically, depending on the calendar, classes can extend into the first days of August. Typically, registration opens at the beginning of March and continues through the Spring. Classes are open until filled, and are offered on a first-come, first served basis. SBEA High School courses are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Any SBEA class offering high school credit can be used to meet graduation requirements at all TUSD high schools. Students from other school districts are welcome to apply. Elementary and Middle School courses are offered for enrichment. Elementary classes are designed to develop the younger mind, offering structured study as well as educational play and themed activities. Middle School courses supplement the instruction students receive during the school year, and also provide a selection of unique “specialty” classes typically not found in normal curricula. Interested students and parents may contact the SBEA office for more information, or consult www.TorranceEducationFoundation.org.

The Torrance Education Foundation's innovative work is focused on all TUSD students and fills the gap between our amazing district and PTAs. Our goal is to ensure we are meeting the needs of the district in more direct and meaningful ways.

This year we are doing a community-wide survey to help us determine what else we should fund outside of our current focuses of STEAM and the SBEA — please take this survey and share it with others!. Your voice is so important to us.

TEF has the capacity to enact large changes in the TUSD schools — perhaps more so than any other entity in the community. However, to achieve maximum impac...
