This week, our friends explored the theme of body parts through art and play! The children painted fun skeleton figures, carefully adding heads, arms, legs, and even little details like ribs and hands. They also enjoyed a colorful finger-painting activity, using their fingers to make tiny pumpkins grow along twisting vines. Outdoors, the children practiced using their bodies as they balanced on stepping stones and wooden beams—using their feet to step, their arms to steady themselves, and their eyes to focus on each move. It was a wonderful week of learning how our bodies help us create, play, and move!

This week at Excelsior Preschool, our young learners celebrated a fun Halloween-themed week filled with engaging early literacy and math activities! The children practiced number recognition, letter tracing, and fine motor skills using festive worksheets featuring pumpkins, ghosts, and other seasonal designs. They traced letters and numbers with pencils and markers, carefully following lines and shapes that strengthen hand-eye coordination. Some activities included counting Halloween objects, connecting dots, and coloring by number, while others focused on writing and letter identification. These hands-on exercises not only supported pre-writing development but also built confidence and focus as students worked independently at their tables. The classroom was full of concentration, creativity, and excitement as everyone enjoyed learning through the spirit of Halloween!

This week at preschool, our young artists explored color, texture, and creative expression through a variety of engaging, hands-on art activities! Using different tools such as sponges, bubble wrap, cardboard tubes, and paintbrushes, the children experimented with stamping, blending, and swirling paints of all colors. Each day introduced a new way to explore sensory art — from painting footballs and basketballs to using bubble wrap rollers and cardboard stamps to create unique patterns and shapes. The children also practiced fine motor skills by dipping and pressing objects into paint, experimenting with color mixing, and even blowing bubbles to create art with motion and air!

Today’s theme at Excelsior Preschool Torrance was Alphabet and Early Literacy Exploration. The children engaged in a variety of hands-on activities designed to strengthen their letter recognition, phonics awareness, and early writing skills. Some children matched letters to picture puzzles, building words like “frog,” “car,” and “tree,” while others used tracing boards, alphabet cards, and word-building blocks to practice forming letters. Coloring and tracing worksheets, such as “A for Alligator” and “K for Koala,” gave students opportunities to refine fine motor skills and connect letters with beginning sounds.
