El Camino Community College's renowned Guitar Program is amongst the top institutions to study guitar. Based in the heart of the Los Angeles area, ECC's premier guitar program offers a wide variety of opportunities for students of varying levels. Students may participate in comfortable beginning level guitar classes, more challenging intermediate level courses, Guitar Ensemble
s, or even study one-on-one with a private instructor through ECC's acclaimed Applied Lesson Program. FACILITIES & RESOURCES
Our campus features two large performance theaters and the Robert Haag Recital Hall for more intimate performances. Our Music Building hosts a number of private practice rooms available for use in addition to our standard classrooms. Our Music Library boasts a very impressive collection of various texts, periodicals, and music scores (sheet music) available to ECC students. Additionally, El Camino College's Music Department has played host to some of the world's most acclaimed guitarists and performers including: Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, Joe Pass, Pat Kelley, Paul Viapiano, Maynard Ferguson, Duke Ellington, Ivan Lins, Count Basie, and many more. Here at ECC, each of our instructors boasts a healthy resumé of both teaching and performing credits in a plethora of guitar styles. Many of our instructors have toured internationally, recorded with some of the music industry’s top performers, and provided music for both television and film. Additionally, many of our faculty are acclaimed guitar recording artists themselves, having numerous CD releases to their credit. As a result each of our instructors understand the necessary skills needed to be successful as a guitarist in today’s music industry.
