πŸš’β€οΈπŸ’™ Little Red Knights, Big Adventures! πŸ’™β€οΈπŸš’

Our Toronto Elementary preschoolers had an exciting adventure learning all about firefighters and the important role they play in keeping our community safe! πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ”₯

The highlight of the visit? Getting to see a real fire truck up close! πŸš’βœ¨ Our littlest Red Knights had the opportunity to explore one of the vehicles our local heroes use to respond to emergencies while learning about the important work firefighters do every day.

A special THANK YOU to the Toronto Fire Department for taking the time to visit with our preschool students and provide such a memorable learning experience! Experiences like these help our young learners discover more about their community and the everyday heroes who help keep us safe.

Who knows? We may have a few future firefighters among our Red Knights! πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’β€οΈπŸ’™

πŸŽΆβ€οΈπŸ’™ New Staff Spotlight: Ms. Wendy Zinn! πŸ’™β€οΈπŸŽΆ

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Wendy Zinn, our new Band Director, to the Toronto City Schools Red Knight family! 🎺πŸ₯πŸŽ·

Ms. Zinn brings 20 years of teaching experience and a unique educational background to Toronto. Before becoming a music educator, she worked as a mental health therapist, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, school psychology, and counseling. Her passion for music eventually led her to pursue the coursework and credentials needed to teach music in both Ohio and West Virginia.

Prior to joining Toronto, Ms. Zinn spent 16 years as the Band Director at Oak Glen High School.

Although born in Ohio, Ms. Zinn spent most of her life in West Virginia. She was drawn to Toronto by the opportunity for a new beginning and the chance to help reignite the tradition of a strong Red Knight band program! β€οΈπŸ’™

What excites her most about joining Toronto is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, strengthen the band program, and inspire more students to discover the joy of music. 🎼

Outside of school, Ms. Zinn enjoys reading and crocheting. In fact, she creates crocheted items that she sells at vendor shows and craft fairs! πŸ§ΆπŸ“š

And here's a fun fact: Ms. Zinn loves dressing up in costumes for Halloween! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

We are excited to have Ms. Zinn's experience, dedication, and passion for music helping to shape the future of our Red Knight musicians.

🎡 Welcome to Toronto City Schools, Ms. Zinn! We can't wait to hear what our Red Knights accomplish under your direction! β€οΈπŸ’™

β€οΈπŸ’™ New Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Jessica Clegg πŸ’™β€οΈ

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Jessica Clegg to the Red Knight family! Mrs. Clegg teaches 6th Grade Social Studies and STEM for grades 6–8.

Mrs. Clegg earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education from Ohio University in 2013, with concentrations in Science and Social Studies. She began her career at Indian Creek Local Schools, her alma mater, where she spent four years teaching at the middle school before teaching fourth grade at Hills Elementary for nine years.

Originally from Mingo Junction, and born in Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Clegg has called Toronto home for about 12 years. She and her husband, Todd, chose Toronto as the place to raise their family and especially appreciate the close-knit, small-town community. β€οΈπŸ’™

Mrs. Clegg is excited to get to know her students and their families while taking on some new subject areas. She is especially looking forward to STEM, where students will have opportunities to learn through hands-on, collaborative projects and activities. πŸ”¬βš™οΈπŸ’‘

Outside of school, Mrs. Clegg enjoys spending time with her family, golfing, and baking. She is the mom of two boys, Easton and TJ. And a couple of fun facts: she was born in Los Angeles and is related to a professional football player! 🏈

🌎 If she could travel anywhere in the world, she'd have a difficult time choosing between Italy, Ireland, and Scotland.

Her favorite quote comes from a familiar TV educator, Mr. Feeny:

β€œIf you let people's perception of you dictate your behavior, you will never grow as a person.”

We are excited to have Mrs. Clegg sharing her experience, enthusiasm, and love of learning with our Red Knights.
Welcome to Toronto City Schools, Mrs. Clegg! β€οΈπŸ’™

This Parent Information Night is especially important for:

πŸŽ“ Current 8th-grade students and families interested in learning about CCP opportunities for high school.

πŸ“š Students and families who are new to College Credit Plus and would like to learn how the program works, available opportunities, expectations, and how students can get started.

πŸ“ Parents/guardians of current CCP students in grades 9–11 β€” attendance is required to complete the Intent to Participate paperwork for the 2027–2028 school year.
